Aside from leather jackets, coats, etc?

I am currently lusting after a skirt but I have never bought a skirt around this price. My clothes are mostly in the $50 range.

I used to be a personal shopper for a high end independent shop (similar brands to self ridges/ Harvey Nichols) so I've got a fair bit that I got heavily discounted. The Two most expensive area Christian Dior evening dress and a Roberto cavalli evening dress both around £2500. Unfortunately my life is more snot and yogurt now rather than black tie do's and fancy parties!

Madbengalmum · 05/08/2016 15:50

Probably my Chanel jackets, i have a couple that were about £3250 each. They are investment pieces though. Then it is roland mouret and dolce and gabanna dresses for about £1500.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2016 15:53

Other than leather jackets, the most I've ever spent is £100 each on a VW dress and two VW skirts. Two of them have worked out really good value in terms of cost/wear; the other one not quite so much of a good deal, as it's a bit itchy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2016 15:53

They were in the sale - couldn't/wouldn't pay full price.

HelenF35 · 05/08/2016 16:03

£150 on a pair of Dune over the knee boots. I did wear them to death though and I'm going to replace them. These ones, they go with everything. http://www.dunelondon.com/mobile/trish-pull-on-over-the-knee-boot-0089508560004484/

ImYourMama · 05/08/2016 16:06

Clothing I don't have anything particularly expensive other than about 6 Barbour jackets. Handbags I have 12 Mulberry and a couple of LV

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/08/2016 16:13

Do handbags and shoes count? If so then £££.

Clothes wise - I tend to buy a lot of premium denim, equipment silk shirts and nice cashmere.

I spend less on going out dresses - more like Reiss type prices as just don't get the wear out of them really.

I wouldn't spend over a £100 on a polyester skirt though OP.

wobblywonderwoman · 05/08/2016 16:25

Aside from wedding dress ..

A Hobbs black dress that is lovely - think it was around 100
A cape from jigsaw that I wore a lot but it is nearly for recycling now. Well worn

Madbengalmum · 05/08/2016 16:30

I didn't think handbags counted? I have spent Much more on handbags than clothes.

Gowgirl · 05/08/2016 16:37

500 on my loboutins, and I love them!
Wedding dress was 98 quid in the sale.....

teaandcake789 · 05/08/2016 18:20

£180 on a Burberry handbag 13 years ago but is still in amazing condition.
£325 on a pair of Gina shoes that I had to sell on eBay for £35 when I was really skint.
Currently? Not much as its all post-pregnancy clothing (size bigger then usual, do not want to spend loads). Usually happy to pay up to £50 for an item

Nettletheelf · 05/08/2016 18:26

Roland Mouret dress, bought just before I got married seven years ago, £1200.

It is gorgeous. I have to be at the thinner end of my spectrum to wear it though.

Also a Prada digital print dress, bought 5-6 years ago, £1200. I still love and wear it.

Nettletheelf · 05/08/2016 18:27

I can't be bothered with swank handbags though.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 05/08/2016 18:38

I don't really spend a lot on clothes tbh. I'm a bit of a bargain hunter at heart and I turn into my grandmother (who truly hates to spend money - she grew up in the 20s and 30s and times were very tight, so I don't blame her), when I see the prices on some clothes these days.

I ended up giving it away, but I stupidly bought a horrible evening dress once for about £200. I didn't even wear it. It was vile. I must have been temporarily insane.

Other than that, just a Vivienne Westwood canvas handbag which was about £175 I think. That was a special treat after I got a work bonus.

Statelychangers · 05/08/2016 19:52

I always spend lots of footwear - I have very delicate skin and need shoes that are made really well. Most recent Toast Jeans - £129 - great shape, more interesting than skinnies. I bought an Alannah Hill skirt and shirt 15 years ago for a wedding - never wore it much afterwards. I have to keep reminding myself to only spend more on everyday cloths.

bearofnothingness · 05/08/2016 19:54

sendra cowboy boots for £200. don't earn enough to justify anything higher! and am a mucky pup

CoolToned · 05/08/2016 21:19

There's a version of the skirt I like in Aliexpress for 1/4 the price. Do I risk it?

darceybussell · 05/08/2016 21:25

Other than my wedding dress, two pairs of louboutins at £500 each. Cost per wear is well down now so they were practically a bargain!

mysteryfairy · 06/08/2016 09:21

I've got a pair of Joseph leather leggings - I think they retail around £700.

I have a couple of pairs of £300 ish boots - acne pistols and toga pullas that I can think of, but sure I have more. I mostly actually wear boots made by ugg (not the recognisable sort!) as they are so comfy so should restrain myself from anything more expensive.

I have a few Barbour jackets - a couple of black ones, a grey one and an arctic parka. I'm conscious that they are dated but they're so convenient I'm not sure what to replace them with. The arctic parka I may wear til I die as don't wear a huge number of days per year. Scary the cost of the four is probably not far off £1000.

leadrightfoot · 06/08/2016 12:06

Some boots I bought Erm well 20 years plus ago and spent £299 quid on which was my rent for the month so in proportionate terms massive investment still going strong been resoled once and reheeled twice

KittyKrap · 06/08/2016 12:31

I have a limited edition Chanel handbag that cost ££££s. From the shop, not a fake!

I keep it in the box and occasionally stroke it, I don't live in a Chanel handbag area so can only think of selling it in a few years.

roseteapot101 · 06/08/2016 12:35

i think my bra at £15 .Even a outfit i have for weddings is worth less i got a brand new outfit with tags on at a charity shop for £5

MarklahMarklah · 06/08/2016 12:41

I bought a coat 10 years ago for £80. It's still going strong.
Other than that, I think £20 on a really nice top that I will wear again and again and again.
I begrudge spending large sums of money on clothing.

cupofrooibos · 06/08/2016 12:41

Everyday stuff, I have a £160 pair of Clarks leather knee boots which I wear near-daily from Sept-Mar and were worth every penny. I also have a £120 Mango leather biker jacket which is worn 3-4 times a week. It's butter soft leather and I adore it. I have a couple of Mulberry and Anya Hindmarch handbags that were four figures Blush but use them both as everyday handbags for work. Don't see the sense in buying beautiful things to not use them.

For special occasions I have two very wonderful gowns that get worn for weddings of close friends / family etc. I don't want to say how much they were but I think the investment was worth is to take the worry out of wanting a new mid price outfit for every do!

BoxofSnails · 06/08/2016 14:14

My winter coat was £100. I have a couple of evening dresses/ wedding outfits that were almost that, and are a higher price per wear. Every day work outfits might come to £70-80 so either dress, trousers and jacket coming to that together.
