Crocs question (child related- don't panic)

Polkadot1974 · 03/08/2016 19:40

I'm trying to sort Crocs for the children for camping in a location with a river for paddling and think Crocs will be ideal. Younger son wears them no bother but the elder one tried his on and moaned like buggery that his toes touch the end/they feel weird etc
They're cheap copies- could this be why it is it that he is pushing a size 2.5 and his are a 2- do we size up in a Croc? I simply cannot spend all weekend fruitlessly trying to dry shoes as he soaks them through again. Please help

I wear a 3 in Crocs - usually a 3 or 3.5, so I wouldn't say size up. My toes don't touch the end, so maybe buy him a pair of the real thing?

Or buy a pair of beach shoes/wetsuit shoes from the likes of sports direct. They are pretty cheap (£5 or less).

LemonDr1zzle · 03/08/2016 20:14

I would buy true to size. But if he's a half size, the Crocs website advises to size down.

I'm currently looking for new Crocs or even alternatives for teens who used to live in their Crocs but are now too cool for them: what do other older kids wear to the beach that does the job of Crocs?

Or should I just persuade them to accept the Croc life? Confused

My 4yo has always adored her crocs, but it does seem to make a difference which ones you buy. Supermarket 'Frozen' themed crocs caused problems, genuine crocbands super comfy and no problems.

Polkadot1974 · 03/08/2016 20:24

Sometimes sports direct have the real thing cheaper so will try there and if not will do the wet shoes thing. I cannot face the wet shoes thing. He even soaks wellies by letting water/mud come over the top. Camping.....stressful

Mine have them from poundland, no complaints! Though they don't know any difference Grin

My DS never had any issues with real Crocs but a couple of pairs of imitation crocs have rubbed his feet & caused blisters. I always buy the real ones now.

My nephews on the other hand have never had any issues with the cheapie ones

I still love mine (sorry!) and use them in private in the back garden! Or camping...seems more acceptable if you camp. Incidentally, mine were cheapy ones, not posh, proper expensive ones!

Lemon are bog standard Tevas cool enough. We wore ours to the beach on Sunday, pleased we weren't barefoot as although a beautiful beach there were a few broken beer bottles.

I just buy the cheapest colour option, within reason, for DD.

I got my dds the real thing in Sports Direct for £5.99 a pair, have been excellent and probably my no 1 buy of the summer! I have some too which were only £2.99, they often have some excellent offers

CodyKing · 04/08/2016 20:18

Try the straps sandals - all Velcro tripe material - they dry quick.

Mine live crocks bit we live near the sea so get used all the time

Polkadot1974 · 04/08/2016 22:31

Thanks Catherine, they have Tevas already from last year but are not keen on them now Hmm

Just ordered some of these, only £15 in the sale. I have a pair too I love them Blush

CatherineDeB · 05/08/2016 05:57

I am not looking forward to that phase Lemon. Dd is 10 and doesn't really care atm.

Mind you I ordered some canvas Geox shoes last week which she declared disgusting after I showed her them on my screen .....l when they arrived she loved them.
