Smart trousers grail?

I tried some in Next yesterday - hopeless
I know they come up bigger than size label suggests but still...
Normally 8 (but can be 12 in h and m!)
Next 8 was massive on waist and loose but not loose enough for a 6 to suit In legs
Bum baggy too.
I'm looking for a lasting work trouser (and skirts) brand to try.
Slim stomach. Athletic hips. (Ish), normal (ie. not skinny )legs.
Want fitted tailored looking classy. Probably some sort of slim leg .
Ideally dark blue. Price Max £40
Any idea?

Banana republic are good for this I think, but I can't remember the name of the style I used to go for. Probably over budget too. Sorry, not normally quite so unhelpful.

I've a few from uniqlo, they've elastic wastes which mean the top is very neat and flat.
I too used to get work trouser from banana republic when I worked.

Fenn Wright Manson Hoffman trousers in navy- in john Lewis sale down from £90 odd to £44.
Smart enough for work with 4% elastane to fit different shapes. Lovely

Me & Em in the sale would be worth a look. Haven't checked available sizes.

I have the ultra skinny pants.
And the bi stretch skinny ankle something.
Neither are thaaaat skinny , just slim and very flattering. And they vanity size which makes me feel good about myself! I'm an 8 in Gap but a 12 in topshop!

Agree that Next are awful. Such bad cut and quality. I don't know how they stay business to be honest. I less I'm just the wrong shape for all their clothes!

Gap - so if I'm ordering on line what size should I try if I'm an 8 normally?

I'm an 8 normally and I buy a 4 in gap trousers. And don't panic when you first put them on - they stretch up a size really quickly, so wander around a bit. I forgot this the other day, tried on and bought a 6 because they looked perfect. After a day they were perfect for someone a size bigger than me...

For GAP - definitely go down one size, possibly two.
I guess i'm usually a size 10 (Topshop is teeny and i need size 12) and i take GAP size 8 - they are still quite roomy.

The fenn wright mason ones - I want to love them. The fabric is lovely
They don't suit me.
Waist big, baggy on top of thighs, tight on calves.
Grrr.
I need navy.
Me and em black are quite wide I think although it says straight- I think we all are too used to skinnies!
I'm keeping them . they need taking up at the hem but look great on.
Still want some navy and would welcome any more sales recommendations?

I actually wear tesco black work trousers at £6, very much plain like school trousers but my job ruins them quickly. They do a few leg lengths and I ruin them with long before they wear out. I've had next and m&s but prefer tesco!

Sales: try White Company, Hobbs, Boden, Jigsaw (not sure how far any of them discount though). All will be decent quality if you can find them at the right price, and all quite likely to do navy smart trousers
