Work trousers... What and where from please!

I'm returning to work (teaching) in September and need some smart casual trousers. Having just walked round town I'm at a loss. What style is everyone wearing these days and where do you buy them from? I'm average build (with mumtum!) size 10-12. And what shoes are going to be trendy AND comfortable (if that's even possible)! Thanks

Cigarette style from Banana Republic or J Crew.

Shoes: I'd wear trainers, but that's probably not going to go down well at school. Do you wear heels? If so, court shoes look fab with cigarettes. Or some pointy flats, or loafers, possibly brogues (but I can't get on with them).
