It was never going to end well, watching gorgeous, young women humping inanimate objects on mtv whilst stuffing my face I started an innocent game of 'let me guess who you fancy the most' with dh.
I casually commented that his type seemed to be ultra glam, fake tan and eyelash types and that it was odd that he be attracted to someone as low maintenance as me and he replied that I was wrong and that he actually preferred plain janes like me!
Now I must say he really wasn't being malicious and he is generally clumsy in how he puts things so I did initially laugh off his comment however it has struck that tiny part of my soul that is still a vacuous and insecure teenage girl. So my question is has anyone else realised that the shine of youth has faded and where once stood a natural 'beauty' now sags a plain Jane?
Is there any coming back? And where the bloody hell would you find the energy? For clarity I'm early 30's and frequently told I look great with the delightful caveat of "for a mum of 4"

He might have said 'plain Jane' but I think he meant 'natural - looking.' Clumsy indeed, but take it as a compliment.

Thanks for replying petal. Deep down I know that's what he meant I guess it's upset me because of how I feel at the moment ie tired and fat, I need to get a bit of perspective and stop being so precious.
