I am on the hunt for a REALLY good pair of fake diamond stud earrings... can you recommend any?

I am a horror with earrings and generally manage to lose them quite quickly which is why I don't want an actual pair of diamond studs (plus the £1k cost) but the current ones a have just don't sparkle and look pretty grotty. I ordered a pair from brilliant Inc which were super sparkly but the fitting of the butterfly was really lose and for £65 I was not happy so returned them. Has anyone bought from trudiamonds, carat or any other specialist in good fake sparklers?

I've also seen screw back ones where the post is thicker, they do look uncomfortable because of that

Madbengalmum · 25/07/2016 20:13

My experience exactly, but clearly Anne knows better!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 25/07/2016 20:37

No need to be rude, Mad. My screw backs are the same thickness as ordinary backs with a butterfly.

Redlocks28 · 25/07/2016 20:44

As for some others, well the smaller ones may not have butterfly backs

If we are talking about rude comments, I actually thought this was rather sneery...

Madbengalmum · 25/07/2016 20:50

Anne, not being rude, just commenting to you in the same tone you took by telling me that there was clearly nothing uncomfortable about screwbacks.
And you have also pissed someone else off with your tone too.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 25/07/2016 20:56

I was not being sneery, I was pointing out that some diamond earrings don't have screw backs if they are smaller, because jewellers don't usually use them under a certain carat size, thereby explaining why some people on here are saying they have butterfly backs. Honestly, how can someone take offence at that?

And no, my experience is that there is nothing uncomfortable with screwbacks. I never take mine out.

Obviously S&B is a touchy place. I'll leave you to it.

Redlocks28 · 25/07/2016 21:04

Well, you claimed you had no idea diamond earrings were even made with butterfly backs, and then when called on it, said that it must only be the smaller ones that were.

The implication was that you were only used to diamond earrings with screw backs, so the rest of us either don't know what we're talking about or must have much smaller diamonds.

Madbengalmum · 25/07/2016 21:16

Redlocks, Methinks that is commonly known as a goady fucker!😄

Liiinoo · 25/07/2016 21:20

I had diamond studs with screw backs. They used to come unscrewed quite regularly and in the end I had them remade with nice tight butterfly fittings. I currently have some very nice, good quality, largish studs and the jeweller that made them didn't even offer me screw fittings.

Polkadot1974 · 25/07/2016 21:34

I love diamonds....would love earrings too

LoveAutumnLeaves · 25/07/2016 21:48

Another vote for Heavenly Necklaces, I have several of their pieces - both friends and jewellers have commented on the quality.

CodewordRochambeau · 25/07/2016 21:48

Apologies - I was also a proponent of the screw back theory but I stand corrected. My 0.7 ct diamond studs have screw backs but they are antique so perhaps that makes a difference - I didn't realise that this wasn't the norm.

I am seriously tempted by the brilliant inc cushion and [[http://www.brilliantinc.co.uk/classic-asscher-3076.html Asscher] studs. Has anyone seen / got them IRL?

CodewordRochambeau · 25/07/2016 21:54

Oops - clicky link for the Asschers

ilovecherries · 25/07/2016 21:56

These are lovely, Codeword. I looked at these, but wondered if they'd be a bit big, and went for the .75 in the end. In fact, I've been like a kid in a sweetie shop today, admiring all this bling. I like jewellery that looks like jewellery - not so keen on beads etc - but I'd never get my head round buying the real thing, so I've been quite taken eith this entire new world that has opened up to me!

Fomalhaut · 25/07/2016 22:14

I'm loving the heavenly rings. Only problem is the white metal -my wedding etc rings are yellow gold.

Does anyone have a recommendation for similar rings to the heavenly ones but yellow or should I just stick it on my right hand..?

Also anywhere that does similar stuff (earrings and whatnot) but in yellow gold? I've seen a few but they're much pricier

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/07/2016 22:20

Yes butterfly backs just need a squeeze to tighten!

Skiptonlass · 25/07/2016 22:21

Haha to small diamonds :)

This will totally out me, but Dh and I honeymooned in the South Pacific. I'd been round there backpacking years back as a student and always wanted some of the black pearls they get there.
I bought a really lovely single pearl necklace in a gold a diamond setting. Really nice. Cost a few hundred but thought I'd treat myself.
Anyway, we were at this posh resort the next day, which had a pearl boutique and smiling to ourselves as we watched people with oodles of money drop fifty k on a string of pearls. The salesman oozed up to me and said (put on serious French accent) "Ahhh...I see madam already 'as some ... small pearls.."
It's been a catchphrase of ours ever since.

The much, much nicer salesgirl who let me try on a 150k necklace got my custom when I actually bought a string of them. Not the 150k ones, obviously 😁

I love jewellery. If I had money I'd be like bloody Liz Taylor, I swear.... 💍

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/07/2016 22:24

Im not fussy on diamonds, though I'd rather have a decent clear quartz or heliodor than fake diamond.

minipie · 25/07/2016 22:25

marking. I need some (naice) bling!

TortoiseVTurtle · 25/07/2016 22:31

I am another one with real diamonds with butterfly backs, they are not tiny either (bling boast).

TheCraicDealer · 25/07/2016 23:08

Place marking- can't decide if it would be worth paying the extra to get the Carat or Brilliant Inc ones, or just stick to the Heavenly necklaces ones for £25.

rollonthesummer · 25/07/2016 23:45

Snap.

Why don't you buy all three-post photos and a review of each on here for me, and then return the ones you don't like Grin

TheCraicDealer · 25/07/2016 23:54

I would, but sure you can't return earrings! Damn hygiene policies.... I have a ring from HN which is lovely but the stones went a bit cloudy. Not sure if that was the quality, me not cleaning it (though didn't see much wear), or if that's just the way those imitation ones go.

fadetoblack · 26/07/2016 06:24

Now I have learnt all about how to fix lose butterflies I will be ordering from Brilliant Inc again. I was impressed with their sparkle factor and will go for the smaller studs. And now that we seem to have agreed that you don need screw backs on real diamonds (small or otherwise) I shall see if I can pass them off for real ones...

May also look into getting a ring or two...
