Pls can you help me find a dress like this:

A light summer maxi dress with an asymetric hem like the one above - a proper U shape that is long at the back and shorter at the front. I'm not that bothered about the top of the dress - it doesn't need to be halter neck - anything other than strapless or spaghetti straps is fine.

I want it to billow around in the breeze on the beach - so a light material not jersey or anything heavy. Preferably in blue - cobalt blue ideally but other strong colours may be ok - nothing pastel or patterned.

I have looked myself and found this but the hem is too asymetric - ie. it doesn't have full coverage at the back of the legs as it's cut on a diagonal at the back.

Thanks Merkin but most of those are formal/evening dressy. I'm looking for more of a day dress.

I hadn't realised dipped hem was the term. I'd been looking for asymetric hem - so will search some more.

Anyone got any other suggestions please?

Thanks ouch - that dress is lovely - the way it falls and hem and general floaty-ness is EXACTLY what I'm looking for.

But (why is there always a but!?) I don't like the ring detail. I want it for a hot summer holiday and I find that metal details like that get really hot in the sun.

I've also found a new term "high low" dress - low hem at the back/high at the front but I still can't find anything!

Sorry, ignore that rubbish link. Google "lagenlook dress" or look on ebay as I have some lovely dippy hem dresses. Made In Italy is a brand to check out if you like that style.

Thanks for you thoughts. I want something new and not ebay/pre-worn.

Harriet those lagenlook dresses look like shapeless sacks to me! They are so unflattering and ugly! I was after something more elegant, chiffony and floaty.

Finova thanks. Both the lipsy and the new look one are much too short at the front. I want something that at the front is just above the knee at minimum. longer is fine.

The boohoo one is good - but has spaghetti straps which i do'n't want.

This is impossible.
Any other thoughts please

  • Dipped hem/ high & low hem maxi dress
  • Floaty material - similar to my original links.
  • Front hem not too short - at least just above knee not mid thigh.
  • Any kind of top other than spaghetti straps or strapless.
- Preferably cobalt blue - but any strong colour is fine. no patterns.

Please help. I've search the entire internet. I found this which I liked but is sold out

I like the colour and length but

  • think the front verticle "ruffle" thing may cause a pregnant/unflattering look
  • the sheerness of the lower back skirt (look at the back view where you can see the legs through) may make it look cheap.

What do you think of that one?

Please help me. I am nearing a trauma shopping state.
