Shorts advice and reccomendations

Ok so for the first time ever in my life I am wanting a pair of shorts. But everywhere I look they are all super short. I am well over the age of wanting bum cheeks hanging out but still only 28 so avoiding frumpy things my mother would wear.

There must be some nice shorts out there, not tight on legs covering my bum and not frumpy.

It is a quite big deal for me to get my legs out so important I feel comfortable & confident.

I am curvy petite size 6 with what you would call ahem ahem thick thighs and an hourglass figure.

Just about now I am ready to cry or admit defeat.

Reccomendations please. You women are good at this.

I've got some from banana republic. I was finding that to get them small enough on the waist they were too tight on the thighs so I'm guessing I'm a similar shape (but not size!) to you. The only problem is that they are really generously sized so you need to go a size down and I'm not sure if they do a size 4. GAP girlfriend shorts are supposed to be good on the thighs too.

Oo, they do actually do them in a 4 depending on what colour you want. I got these roll up ones so you can decide how short you want them.

Knee length tailored shorts or denim cut offs. I have denim culottes which are great.
