Best base coat/neutral nail varnish?

Hi!
Inspired by the grooming thread I have started manicuring my nails.
I bought a nice base coat from Superdrug and it's lovely, but has a yellow tinge that makes me look like a chain smoked.
What I need is a similar 'my nails but better' largely see through nail varnish with a pinky tone.
Has anyone found such a thing?
