I currently have extensions and shallac done every 4/5 (when time allows).
I've seen the home gel kits and not sure if they are worth trying, if so, which is the best.
I'm a qualified beauty therapist (not work in the industry) and nail polish is my guilty pleasure......

I have a cheap lamp from Amazon and a big selection of £5 BlueSky gels also from Amazon.

I love them.

I have one! It's great, polish lasts about a week and a half for me. Even bought a kit for a friend for xmas as she was impressed by mine (I'm jealous now as she has the newer quicker lamp ).

I do hate take it off though, can really mess up my nail when being impatient. The nail polish isn't the cheapest but I think I used to spend more when I was buying Barry M because I'd have to redo it so often that I was alway changing colours.
