Birkenstocks - yes or no?

Not having ever bought these and in dire need of some summer sandals I wondered if these are comfortable?

Any recommendations?

I hate them. They give me blisters, and I find them really uncomfortable. Have small narrow feet though, and have just learned that there's a narrow version so I may need to try them!

scurryfunge · 22/07/2016 18:06

Very comfortable for me. Recommended by a Physio after a nasty ankle break. Only pair I could walk in easily and without pain.

AnyFucker · 22/07/2016 18:08

I replace the same classic pair of brown 2 strap Arizona every couple of years

Love 'em

LBOCS2 · 22/07/2016 18:15

I have three pairs which I wear on rotation, and am eyeing up a fourth. I love them.

TK Maxx is very good for bargain ones, as is Amazon sometimes.

CointreauVersial · 22/07/2016 20:04

I have Madrids (and wide feet) - they aren't hugely comfy, tbh, although I can last a day in them.

I think it's my bunions (mmm lovely!).

They look nice, though.

BikeRunSki · 22/07/2016 20:11

I love mine. Hate toe posts, so I wear the Mayari style. Very comfy, can wear them for hours and walk miles and miles in them. They are big and wide though! I normally wear a wide fit 8 from Clarks (or 42-43 elsewhere) but wear a standard fit 41 in Birkies.

Oh !

I haven't seen that Mayari style

I need them

AnyFucker · 22/07/2016 21:31

I am a size 39 (6) in Arizona (I find them true to size)

Would I need a 6 in that style too ?

amazonianwoman · 22/07/2016 23:32

Love my Gizehs, currently have a silver pair and a pearl pair on the go. Have lost count of how many pairs I've had over the years. Live in them from about Easter until it's time to switch to ankle boots in Autumn Smile

rollonthesummer · 23/07/2016 10:00

I do always size down though. I'm normally a 5/38 but wear a 37 in Birkenstocks. They do a narrow fit, too.

MotherFuckingChainsaw · 23/07/2016 10:06

I don't like the feel of sandals and have all kinds of knee problems.

However the Arizona is the only sandal ever that I can walk in or tolerate. And my knees feel great too.

Actually I have to go 'out' later and was pondering what to wear on my feet....

crayfish · 23/07/2016 10:20

I love mine, I'd wear them all year if I could! I have wide feet so they suit me but they do a narrow one. I wore mine every day on a city break to Florence with loads of walking and didn't get a single blister.

Hotbot · 23/07/2016 12:30

Love them very comfy, I wear mayari in silver and another pair in shiny black .... Bling !,

Libitina · 23/07/2016 12:35

I've had Birkenstocks for almost 20 years now. Love them. My feet ache for the first day or two of wearing them again, but then they are fine.

Shopgirl1 · 23/07/2016 13:23

I have about 7 pairs of these on the go at the moment, I love them, never have to break them in, I buy the narrow ones and they are a perfect fit.

Sparkletastic · 23/07/2016 13:26

My silver Madrids rarely leave my feet in the summer months. I have 6.5 wide feet and the 39 fits perfectly.

sulee · 23/07/2016 20:51

Love them- have four pairs on the go at the moment and they last for years. I never have to wear them in and find them so incredibly comfortable I rarely wear anything else on my feet all summer.

ItsAllGoodMan · 23/07/2016 21:09

Love mine. I have narrow feet and always wear the narrow style. I don't think you should size down as your foot is supposed to fit within the footbed. Walked around 20000 steps in my Yaras on Thursday and my feet didn't hurt at all.

I've got a pair of Gizehs and have just bought some Yaras with the strap that wraps around the ankle (the ones in the pic up there ^^). Love them.

Boolovessulley · 23/07/2016 21:28

I love them too.

Very, very comfortable.

bingisthebest · 23/07/2016 21:32

I have bought Birkenstocks in the past and been ok but this time I bought a copy in schu as I wanted the 2 strap and they can look quite clumpy. They are fab for my narrow feet. Love them

Cliffdiver · 23/07/2016 21:34

I got some Betulas - a sister brand and super comfy and - I think - they look nicer.
