Help! Having a wobble over a holiday purchase.. opinions please?

I have just bought this to wear on holiday over my bikini as a cover up to and from the beach, etc.

I was planning on buying one of those floaty cheesecloth kaftan things I keep seeing all over Pinterest, but when I tried a few on they were really unflattering. I'm not big (size 12, 5 ft 10) but I am quite big of nork and they seemed to flare out at my boobs then make me look huge all the way down. I nearly didn't try the one I've bought on, but it was reduced so gave it a go - and (in the changing room at least..) it was really flattering.

But now I'm home I'm wondering if I'll walk out in that and get laughed back to the hotel Sad. I'm early 40's.... are sheer dresses meant for 20 somethings? I would be wearing it with quite cover-upy bikini's underneath (high waisted bottoms, etc...)

Honest opinions please!

I love it. How long is it?

LaConnerie · 14/07/2016 12:47

Mid thigh - and I am quite tall. And quite large of arse too but it definitely covers completely. Am really pleased I bought it now!

That's gorgeous - where is it from, if you don't mind me asking?

ShangriLaLaLa · 14/07/2016 15:01

I have a long sleeved version from a couple of years ago. I love it and put it away with great care after every holiday. You will enjoy wearing it and should get loads of use out of it. Have a lovely holiday!

LuckySantangelo1 · 14/07/2016 15:02

Ooh it's lovely! Where is it from?

DianaT1969 · 14/07/2016 17:58

Really pretty and suitable IMO

peachlife · 14/07/2016 18:08

I think it's lovely too!. Am chuckling away at "quite big of nork" Grin.

LaConnerie · 14/07/2016 18:39

No prob - it's by Layers, Paris - I bought it in a little independent boutique where I live - I had a quick google and apparently they have stockists all over the place. It was £40 reduced to £12 Smile. It's 100% cotton and feels really soft and light, although it looks quite 'structured'.

Thanks for all the positive comments! Flowers

That is really lovely.
I have something similar and wear it often with a black vest/leggings underneath.

KoalaDownUnder · 14/07/2016 18:44

Ooh, I love!

LaConnerie · 14/07/2016 19:04

Ooh I hadn't thought of that margarita! I wonder if I could get some kind of tightish stretchy dress to wear underneath it as a dress rather than a cover up...

OP posts:
TheMasterMurderedMargarita · 14/07/2016 20:52

That would work...it's too nice to save just for a cover up.

Vanessamessa · 14/07/2016 22:03

Soo, pretty! Am jealous!

LaConnerie · 14/07/2016 22:06

What colour slip dress should I get to wear underneath then? Do I get cream or white or a darker contrast colour?

Can you tell this dress is so far out if my normal comfort zone...

OP posts:
Vanessamessa · 14/07/2016 22:52

I'd go for a blush colour, or a caramel.

nilbyname · 15/07/2016 07:27

American apparel or asks have Lycra/Jersey spaghetti strap body con dresses to wear under that. That would be lush, I'd got for ether,
Grey, peachy/coral, yellow or black.

nilbyname · 15/07/2016 07:27

Eastpoint · 15/07/2016 07:33

At 5'10" a size 12 is slim. You'll look stunning on holiday in it. Matching under slip will make it versatile but at £12 you can just have it as a beach dress & feel glam. Next big dilemma gold or silver flip flops?

LaConnerie · 16/07/2016 16:58

Ooh don't get m started on flip flops. I have 'pretty' white ones, gold ones, and yellow daisy ones, but I also have some plain black very unpretty Havianas, which are so comfy. I will take all four but will probably live in the boring black ones...

An thank you for the slim comment east - my norks and arse would disagree with you Grin
