How long does nail polish take to dry?

I don't use nail polish very often, and I think I probably hang around longer than necessary.
How long would you leave polish to dry, before you just carry on with your normal tasks?

I always do mine before bed then give it ten minutes with a quick dry top coat then go to bed with hands above covers. I'd definitely recommend a quick dry top coat.
