give us the gist

are they all crap and a waste of money?

puddle · 24/01/2007 11:06

That was the gist Mrs B. And that facials are a waste of money.

I only heard the end. I thought they said that all those extra creams eg for eyes, neck etc are totally unecessary?

Also the woman at the end said she used virtually nothing. (and wore no make up)

What did they day about vitamins then?

Carmenere · 24/01/2007 11:14

I will listen later but as a male mnetter said once , very few men use creams and they generally don't age faster than women. I use a basic moisturiser and good ones feel better but I don't believe that they do any long term good really.

I have regular facials and use expensive skin care.

I look a good 5 to 10 years younger than my mates who think its waste of cash.....

booge · 24/01/2007 11:24

I don't wear creams or make up, wash my face with water and never have facials and I look younger than most people my age too. I'm lucky my mum has good skin as well, it's in the genes not the products.

puddle · 24/01/2007 11:27

It's a combination of all sorts of things - genes, diet, whether you smoke, drink sunbathe etc.

I am prepared to believe that the creams right at the top end of the market (the Creme de mer type price) make a difference, but I think there's not a lot of difference between the £10 and £30 ranges.

I found it interesting that they said proper skincare should start at the pre-teen stage. Washing face morning and night (think she said twice, not sure why, was shaking duvet so was muffled), using a moisturiser and possibly a suncream. I didn't catch who the people offering the advice were but the science one was the one who used soap and water and wore very little make up. My mother has fabulous skin and she never uses anything other than soap on hers.

bundle · 24/01/2007 11:33

puddle i think it's the opposite, the crem de la mer is even more b***cks

that baggot woman waffling on about pentapeptides on the olay ad is totally irritating

bundle · 24/01/2007 11:34

my mum drank gallons of veg water (from boiling them in) as a teenager and never had any spots

Piffle · 24/01/2007 11:37

pentapeptides from the botox'd to death lady
yeah me too.

yoyo · 24/01/2007 11:41

Can anyone briefly summarise what was said? I can't access the podcast. I have to say that I have been using the Dr Weil's Mushroom serum and really have noticed a difference in my skin. Or is it my imagination?!

piglit · 24/01/2007 11:41

She has had everything botoxed, hasn't she? Even her cheeks are full of the stuff. Why would anyone want to look like that?

puddle · 24/01/2007 11:42

I obv need to listen to the whole thing then!

Eating well is massively important too. My teenagers both have wonderful skin ,and they have an excellent diet. Whereas Dh and I both had to eat crap as kids and we were both acne ridden.

Although both my kids use good skincare too so I think doing everything right is good insurance
