How do I stop getting a red, peeling, nose?

Every time I get a cold my nose gets horrifically irradiated by the nose rubbing. And then my skin starts to peel off, so I look like I have dried shot stuck to my nose.

I've tried lots of things, balmy tissues, constant moisturizing which gets whipped off 3 seconds leter , Vaseline as a barrier, sudocreme as a barrier, nothing has helped make this less bad.

Is there a magic secret that I don't know?

The only thing I've found that has helped is applying waitrose pure range facial oil all over the nose area. Several times a day whilst the cold is in force and then liberally for the next couple of days. It definitely minimised the peeling stage for me.

I use real hankies as much as possible, old ones that have been washed and ironed lots are the best. Tissues just seem to suck all the moisture out of my skin. Aquaphor also helps.

Thank you! I'll hunt some oil down, I'm nowhere near a waitrose but I have got a few facial oils.

I'll get making some hankies, and Chuck aquaphor on the shopping list.
