Best high street shampoos & conditioners

Whats the best high street shampoo & conditioner that you can use daily that doesn't leave your hair looking or feeling greasy? Struggling to find one that suits.

The best one I ever tried was Body Shop nettle shampoo, but then they removed sodium laureth sulphate from it and it didn't work well for me any more. After I suppose about 20 years of taking an interest in hair care and trying dozens and dozens maybe hundreds of brands, I've come to the conclusion that for me, they are all basically equally crap (or equally good, if I'm feeling optimistic). At the moment I just buy alberto balsam, I'd rather spend 99p and have slightly shit hair than £6.99.

Related point - has anyone else noticed that you can no longer buy shampoo "for oily/greasy hair"? Is there a new euphemism that I'm missing?

Aussie mega shampoo is my favourite one. Super clean hair, no residue :)

I was going to suggest Aussie too. Asda have an offer on 3 for £10 which includes the dry shampoo X

Aussie makes me greasy. Always return to Alberto balsam (or the aldi version!) though nice and cheap and does the job. Definately worth a try.

I like loreal elvive. Normally use the one for coloured hair

I was looking for shampoo for greasy hair the other day and also realised that nobody seems to make it anymore! Is it because of dry shampoo? Am I the only person in the world with greasy hair?

Aussie mega is my usual go-to shampoo though and does an ok job on my greasy limp locks.

I hate the smell of Aussie!

OGX is nice, just finished some Coconut (smells all milky rather than coconutty, comforting smell)

Now I have the mental image of Hugh Dennis "Milky Milky" Man

Lots of different scents, I need to get through my hoard of random products before I can start my new bottle.

Henera ( £1 at Savers) is nice.

And I have a 1 litre bottle of Aveda Clove in the bathroom for nice hair washing.

I quite like the OGX coconut water one, but also struggle to get one that suits. I'd noticed that it's hard to buy for greasy hair now - which is annoying.

I buy the OGX when it's on offer. Picked up Herbal Essences clearly naked shampoo recently, the silicon free one and actually rated it highly for my hair. It left my normally greasy hair really light with no static and easy to style.

I like herbal essences. L'oreal have recently brought out a new shampoo and conditioner for oily roots, it's a pale blue - green bottle, clay based. It also has a pre wash treatment, which is supposed to help reduce oil. Not tried the treatment, but the shampoo and conditioner are good.

I find the clear Pantene shampoos are great for my very fine (but bloody loads of it) hair. No residue at all. I use it with Herbal Essences tousled conditioner - never tried the matching Pantene conditioner

Thanks all. I will have to give some of these a whirl & see what i think. I like the sound of OGX with the coconut/milky smell. I have used Aussie in the past which i did like but the thing that put me off was that its not the cheapest & i wash my hair daily. I do quite like loreal elvive too.

The Body Shop Rainforest shampoo for greasy hair is very good once you get used to the application. I do love the coconut OGX shampoo as well - gorgeous smell! I tend to alternate between those two shampoos!

I like the honey Herbal Essences one, think it's called Bee Strong. My hair's looking a lot healthier since I started using it a few weeks ago.

I use the L'Oreal clay based one mentioned above. Someone normally has it half price so about 4 quid for both.

I like tresemme naturals and also lush big

For greasy hair, go for clear shampoos usually marketed as 'clarifying' or deep cleansing.
I discovered Timotei Pure for normal greasy hair which I love.
