Do I say yes to this dress?

So, I fell in love with this Boden dress and managed to get it in the sale. It's just arrived and now I'm not sure if it actually suits me Confused So please, style gurus of MN, can you give me your verdict?

Here's the link to the dress on the website:
www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/womens-dresses/day-dresses/ww088-spt/womens-navy-dot-violet-dress

And I'm trying to attach photos of me in the dress!

Do I say yes to this dress?

That looks gorgeous on you, lovely dress.

You have a fab figure you lucky duck!

jayner182 · 29/06/2016 10:03

Yes! lovely.

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/06/2016 10:03

Honestly - you look as good as the model in it!

Why don't you think it suits you?

I bought a Boden dress with a ruched waist once, and found it rather unflattering - to the point that I never wore it. But this looks lovely on you.

Archedbrowse · 29/06/2016 10:04

Fits you perfectly, looks great.

SansaClegane · 29/06/2016 10:08

Oh thank you guys so much!

I guess the two things I was worried about were 1) length - wasn't sure if this is right for me as I usually wear just-above-knee length and 2) chest area as I'm quite busty and it felt a bit squashed, though I'm not sure if that comes across in the photos.

As an additional question, are those shoes ok with it or do they look too wedding-y?

TobleroneBoo · 29/06/2016 10:08

It looks lovely!

InternationalHouseofToast · 29/06/2016 10:13

I wouldn't go with white shoes for this dress, it's too much. I'd go for red shoes, if you have them, or black as a fallback.

Lovely dress though.

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/06/2016 10:14

The length is lovely. Very 'Pretty Woman' at the races.

SansaClegane · 29/06/2016 10:21

OMG DowagerCuntess that's probably what drew me to it...! I love Pretty Woman.

Re: shoes, the dots on the dress are navy, would black shoes still work in that case?

OP posts:
InternationalHouseofToast · 29/06/2016 10:24

We've only got your photos to go on, where it looks like a dark navy, so I'd say yes based on that.

LillyVonSchtupp · 29/06/2016 10:27

I thought of Pretty Woman too!

You look fantastic OP - great dress!

Charmed18 · 29/06/2016 11:03

Lovely dress really flattering Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 29/06/2016 11:09

OMG. That dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you. Very flattering. It would be a crime against fashion not to buy it. The clothes police will lock you up. If you don't.
I love polka dots. I have loads of them. In all colours. I'm obsessed

SheHasAWildHeart · 29/06/2016 11:56

You look lovely and the dress is really pretty.

burnishedsilver · 29/06/2016 15:38

Oh yes. Keep it.

icklekid · 29/06/2016 15:41

Love the dress on you, length is perfect. Agree white shoes are a bit weddingy- is there an occasion it is for? I'm sure black shoes would be fine or coloured if you wanted to add some colour also fine!

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2016 15:44

Suits you perfectly. Smile Beautiful.

SpiritedLondon · 29/06/2016 22:46

Yep it's a keeper. I think the length is spot on and I think slightly longer lengths and midis are more modern than above the knee. I'm not keen on the shoes but this gives you the opportunity to wear any colour really if you want to contrast rather than match. My immediate thought was hot pink or Emerald green but anything goes really.

SansaClegane · 30/06/2016 08:14

Again, thank you all for the kind reassurance and tips regarding shoes!

Tbh I'm a bit surprised at all the positivity as I thought S&B detests Boden? Was bracing myself for the "frumpy" comments!

The tips on shoe colour are great; I hadn't considered contrasting colours but I love the idea, need to have a rummage through the shoe cupboard and see what I can find!

OP posts:
Fabellini · 30/06/2016 08:19

Agree with others...the dress is fab, but I don't love the shoes with it. Red would be my first choice, but nude would work too.....as would bright pink, or green.

FashionLover1 · 30/06/2016 09:00

Gorgeous dress and suits you a lot x

Lexilooo · 30/06/2016 12:13

I'm not a big fan of the neckline, not particularly flattering for larger boobs so I see your concern, but overall it looks nice and I would keep it. Maybe try it with a scarf or beads to break up the bust area a bit.

I'm not keen on the shoes, if you want to dress it down white pumps/ballet shoes would work, if you want heels go for a bright colour as suggested above (and maybe match this to your other accessories) or navy to match the spots. Don't wear black shoes.

YorkieDorkie · 30/06/2016 12:21

Very flattering OP! It's a very classy ensemble Wine.

alexandragimenez · 30/06/2016 14:34

Yes, its really nice!

Ilovetorrentialrain · 30/06/2016 15:59

Lovely dress and it looks truly fabulous on you!

I think much more 'delicate' shoes / strappy high heeled sandals would be better - those in the picture are a little old fashioned and age the look a bit. Ankles up I'd say you are in your 20s, shoes say 50+.
