Outfit advice - night out

I am going for a very rare girly night out in a few weeks - dinners, drinks and dancing. I am confident enough with my day to day casual and work style and formal events like weddings but never know what to wear for nights out.

I am mid 30s, dark blonde hair, pale skin. 5ft8 and size 10/12 with a wobbly post DC tum. I'm happy enough to get my legs out. Not a fan of cold shoulder style (on me).

For day to day clothes love COS, Whistles, some Zara.

What would you wear for a night out? Would love some advice and/ or suggestions. Thanks Flowers

I would go for a not-too-dressy dress. Zara will probably have something. I think it's better to be slightly dressed down on these kind of nights; you can still do topnotch hair, make-up, etc., but steer clear of glittery boleros Grin . I would wear a dress, flat shoes like sandals and maybe a jacket. Microscopic handbag to avoid feeling like "Mum" (that could just be me).

Thanks for all the links Flowers

I'm definitely not a sparkly bolero kind of person Grin and I think you're right about a small bag or clutch (nice change from the enormous change bag which I currently lug everywhere!).

Unfortunately I really really cannot go braless post DC which rules a few of those dresses out. I like the last one - can see it working with a bright clutch and black strappy sandals. I'm always a bit afraid of black in summer but think there's enough colour in this to make it work

I would wear skinny jeans and a dressy top- something understated with some jewellery bling. My faves are usually those silky camisole type things with a blazer and a statement necklace. Heels or flats work well.

Thanks Banana. I was considering something like that. I have some nice indigo skinnies which would work. Anyone seen any nice cami tops - preferably with wide enough straps to let me wear a normal bra? Very skinny spaghetti straps don't do my shoulders any favours

Quite like the Hush triangle top but would prefer a colour ( not black or white) and object to paying £45 for a viscose vest top
