If you wear mascara every day...

How long does a tube last you? I seem to be getting through the last one really quickly! And I don't pump the tube, which I know dries it up quicker. TIA.

I would say about three months or so. I seem to get through them quite quickly these days. I am sure that years ago they lasted forever. I'm always buying the stuff Smile

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/06/2016 16:18

Thanks pinkie. The way its going, I don't think I'm going to get three months out of it! Don't know if anyone finds that some makes last longer than others, or that I'm just putting more on because I had semi-permanent lashes a couple of months ago, and I'm trying (and failing) to get a similar affect!

I mainly wear Maybelline and Rimmed and I've definitely noticed them not lasting long. Probably 3 months is whereas a few years I'm sure they didn't dry out anywhere near as quickly.

dudsville · 25/06/2016 16:45

I often wonder this but have never kept track of it.

OlennasWimple · 25/06/2016 16:55

Mine seem to last ages - far longer than is healthy, I suspect. Nearly a year?

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/06/2016 17:07

2-3 months, then it tends to go clumpy.

Absolutelynothingelse · 25/06/2016 17:08

Mine seems to last forever and I wear it everyday.
I use eyelash curlers and one coat of mascara under and over each lash.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/06/2016 17:15

Ok, I'm going to actually track when I start using the next one . Thanks all.

About 8 weeks before it goes clumpy/dry. I use the L'Oreal waterproof volume million. I was using YSL faux cils but found that was drying out as quickly and the results are as good with the L'Oreal as the YSL for me, for half the price.

I wear it daily and don't 'pump' the wand in the tube (makes it go off quicker IME).

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/06/2016 17:32

About 8 weeks. 3 coats daily without fail!Grin

SuperFlyHigh · 25/06/2016 17:42

8 weeks, one to two coats. Probably two.

mrsclooneytoyou · 25/06/2016 18:06

Lancôme mascara . Two coats a day and it lasts at least 12weeks

hugoagogo · 25/06/2016 18:09

Probably a year! Seems a long time anyway, they never actually run out do they? it just dawns on me that it's a bit gross.

retainertrainer · 25/06/2016 18:45

You shouldn't really keep a tube of mascara for longer than 3 months anyway-all the bacteria builds up. I start getting itchy eyes if I keep mine too long.

PinkyPlumet · 25/06/2016 18:51

about 8-10 weeks

notagiraffe · 25/06/2016 19:03

How weird. I use mascara every day (yellow Maybelline Volume Express) and change it every six months even though there's still some left. Definitely lasts longer than 3 months. (And I do pump the brush - can't help it.)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/06/2016 16:04

I reckon I'm only going to get about 8 weeks out of current no 7 one. Thanks all.

A good mascara should definitely last 3 months. I use a Guerlain one that I've had for about 10 weeks (I bought it in duty free so can easily remember the date!) and it's still going strong thankfully.

WellTidy · 27/06/2016 19:57

Estes Lauder definitely about 3 months. Benefit they're real is the same.

m0therofdragons · 27/06/2016 20:03

No7 last me about 3 months least. I use the gold one but have used different ones. I always use the water proof ones. No idea if that makes a difference.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/06/2016 21:56

Ah, interesting. I don't use waterproof.

CointreauVersial · 28/06/2016 23:05

Years!!

Like the Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs, my mascaras never seem to run out. Eventually I chuck them because I worry I've had them too long.

OlennasWimple · 29/06/2016 01:04

I use waterproof too - seems (from our small, unscientific sample!) that might help explain why some last longer?

youlittlecharmer · 29/06/2016 10:41

I prefer it a bit dried out so probably keep it way longer than I should. Pretty sure I bought my current one before Christmas and it's only now starting to get a bit too dried out.
