Best boots for the zombie apocalypse?

I had a good old look at my boots earlier with a very critical eye. I have a cheapy synthetic pair that I wear to work but are already on their way out after only a couple of month's wear (and, being synthetic, make my feet a bit sweaty Blush ), a pair of DMs that are great but very heavy and would probably weigh me down enough for the zombies to catch me up and a pair of snowboot type things which, although comfortable while trudging along with the dog, have a bit of a heel thing that I think would probably have me over if I tried running in them.
None of these would be any use whatsoever come the zombie apocalypse so this is what I'm after:
*A material that is not sweat-inducing
*Something comfy with good support
*No heel, I'm a complete wuss with heels and all my work zombie fighting trousers are flat boot length
*Lightweight enough to have it away on my toes at the first sign of a zombie
*Something that is fairly smart as I'll probably just wear them to work until the zombie apocalypse starts.
Please may you all show me your favourite boots?

Well, personally, I'll be kicking zombie butt in these!

But it sounds like you want smarter/flatter?

Oh my word, those top ones are amazing! They would actually help me smile my way through the zombie apocalypse!
You're right though, I do need really need a bit smarter in the meantime... I like the middle ones from your second post- where are they from please?

Merrell Captiva fulfil all your criteria but smartness is in the eye of the beholder - they'd be fine for some work environments. Can I ask whether this quest for zombie-proof boots has been brought on by watching The Walking Dead, by any chance?...I've started watching it recently and have found myself considering what I would wear if the apocalypse arrives.

actuallyaftersomeworkboots · 19/06/2016 14:07

Thanks Tate - they look good but I fear I'm a little poor for those...!
Laquila The Merrels look great and I can definitely get away with slightly less smart as I am often needed to tramp around fields in my job, the waterproofing would be a definite bonus!
Yes, I am a Walking Dead fan. I spend many a dog walk pondering how I'd dress and identifying edible plants Grin

I think you need the boots Carol has in the walking dead. That's what I plan to wear once the time comes.

actuallyaftersomeworkboots · 19/06/2016 14:22

nothruroad They are the ultimate aren't they?! Probably out of my budget so I may have to find out where they're from, wait until the apocalypse starts and then go and loot me a shop that stocks them Wink

I love a zombie S&B thread! Seriously OP, the Merrells are ridiculously comfy - one of the reasons I look forward to autumn. They're on sale here for £59 too:

Oh, they are a bargain... 'ridiculously comfy' you say? My poor little foot could do with some of that action.
Tate they are lovely, I actually really like the green ones that are on offer and they would go with most of my work clothes (I've a limited work wardrobe!) I'm just wondering if the suede would hold up to the tramping over lawns bit of my work though.

Oh dear, 'poor little foot'?! I do have 2 of them in need of 'ridiculously comfy'!

What about chelsea boots ?
I wear actual jodphur boots to work with a dress and tights but the ultimate for comfort are blundstones. I have an lovely pair I -stole- got from my sister's stables.

actuallyaftersomeworkboots · 19/06/2016 21:18

habibihabibi I'm not usually a fan of chelsea boots (they don't seem to suit me) but I think the Blundstone ones are chunky enough to look right on me. Definitely worth considering. They look pretty hard wearing too.

Ah, the ones I posted are all DM's.

burnishedsilver · 20/06/2016 00:24

Is the zombie apocalypse definately happening in Winter? You might want to consider something a bit more Summery in case it comes early.

BestIsWest · 20/06/2016 06:09

I love those Seasalt ones. How padded are they underfoot?

actuallyaftersomeworkboots · 20/06/2016 22:01

Oh burnishedsilver are you telling me I need to make 2 purchases for the zombie apocalypse?! To be honest I am a soft southerner living way, way up north so I don't often feel the urge to don sandals, but I think you may be able to entice me, you foul temptress you Wink What have you got in mind?
