Naked Palette 2 or 3?

It's my birthday next week and I would like dh to buy me a palette.

I adore the colours in the Naked 3, but I've never worn pink tones before. I usually stick to browns and greys but quite fancy a change.

Can someone with very dark brown hair, hazel eyes and pale skin get away with those tones do you think?

Also, I'm pretty shit at putting eye shadow on. I have come across some tutorials for different looks, is it really as easy at it looks? and can I get away with just using the brush that is included?

I have 1,2 & 3 and the only one I'm not as keen on is 3. I find it quite hard to work with, I've got green eyes, I'm super pale and have dark hair and they just look odd on me, I think it may suit a warmer skin tone. 1 & 2 I wear almost daily though. The brushes included are okay but I prefer using my real techniques ones, I think they blend better.

3 is my favourite!

I also have 1.

I don't like 2 because the colours are either really pale, or really dark, without much in the middle.

I think I will go to the counter and have one eye done in 2 and the other in 3.

It's a lot of money to get it wrong isn't it?

Buy the Make Up Revolution dupes instead, they are the exact, exact same colours as the Naked palettes and great quality. Four quid each! Have a look in Superdrug.

Then spend your money on something else Smile

And 3 is very pink. It's the one I use least. 1 is my favourite (or rather, my dupe)

I was just going to say make up revolution in superdrug!
I really wanted naked 2 but couldn't justify the cost so went for this instead and its fab.

I bought 2 but had cold feet due to its glitteryness. Then before I was about to spend another £40 on one of the others I heard about MUR and bought both 1 and 3 for £8. Converted! And I'm usually a right brand snob....

Makeup Revolution are not dupes. I have several of them. They're not bad for the money (£5) but they're not a patch on Urban Decay. I was hesitant to make the jump. But they're absolutely worth it. I will add that the packaging is top quality... A very sturdy metal case with an excellent mirror and a good-quality double-ended brush.

I have 2. I am fair with pink undertones and blue eyes. I'm going to be going to buy 1 or 3 today. Damn right they're addictive!

I've been slow to take up UD because they struck me as faddish. Then they came to the House of Fraser that I walk through several times a week. I was in a mood for something different one day and asked the girl to "recommend me a lipstick. Something to make my eyes pop." She surprised me with Bang - a reddish orange. It really works for me and I have to say that I was blown away by the lipstick, itself. So creamy, great staying power.

Then I went and asked for something to replace the nudish rose shade I've always worn and need more of. She sold me Liar. It's the best "everyday rosey" lipstick I've ever had.

Every time I went there I would look at the Naked palettes and suck my teeth at the price. Like I said, I had a bunch of MUR palettes and they were just OK.

I took the leap a couple of weeks ago and that's me hooked now.

With your colouring I would go for 2 - I have hazel eyes and pale skin like you. Pinks are trickier to apply in my opinion.
The make up revolution palettes are good copies and I use on holiday and they are fine but less intense. Definitely worth sampling to check if you like the colours.

I have them all... Including basics and smokey (have a problem) Am mixed race so 3 is my fav as I get a great look with just one colour but if I was fair I would think 2 would work best.

Also if you don't have the eye primer - I would invest, it makes a huge difference to both creasing and staying power.

Forget Makeup Revolution .. If you are in Superdrug get the Sleek makeup I-Divine palettes. They are fantastic, huge colour range (nudes, darks, Jewel, pastel etc etc) very pigmented, long lasting, easy to blend and very compact palettes with big mirrors.

I have the original and have just bought the limited edition Wonderland one. I love them so much I gave my DD my Naked 3 palette. They are £8.99 but currently on offer at 2 for £10. Give them a go - at that price you can't go wrong.

I LOVE Naked 3, but I am fair skinned with blue eyes so it really works for me. I have Smoked too, and really love it, though the glitter/sparkle can be a bit much, I prefer majority matt shadows with one or two glitters.

But yes, why not go to the counter and have a play? My House of Fraser ones are great, really helpful and good at advising in general. The Debenhams ones are crap though - they just stand there talking and don't even acknowledge their customers...

Seems like everyone is doing a nude pallet these days and I'm sure many of them are good. What sets UD apart (aside from the excellent packaging) is the intensity of the pigment.

I've heard great things about the primer and they gave me samples of their primers but I haven't tried them yet. I don't really have problems with creasing and fading.

I have dark hair and green eyes and pale skin too. I have naked 1 , 2 and naked smoky and find I use naked 1 the most. I had a look at 3 but found it too pink for me I don't want to look like I have conjunctivitis

Yes, conjunctivitis is my fear.

I just played with some old eye shadows. I seem to suit greens, purples and browns.

I am hoping we will go to the city this afternoon so I can have it as an early birthday present.

I did think about MUR and have found a few things that look good. I wouldn't normally spend this much on eye shadow but I feel like spending my birthday money on something I would never usually buy.

Just to add if you have a debenhams nearby they stock too faced their chocolate box palettes are lovely I have the original one. The pigmentation is brilliant I use that more than my urban decay tbh

I ended up with Naked 3.

I was really sure that I would be told that it wouldn't suit me, but turns out I am very warm and have a lot of pink and red tones probably acne

I had a quick play and I kind of suck at applying eye shadow in more than one colour so I have a lot to learn.

I also got bareminerals blemish control powder. My skin is so badly dehydrated right now that I also had to get a good moisturiser. I am sick of my bloody skin. My derm put me on some new antibiotics that aren't working at all by the looks of the outbreak on my neck. I can't wait to go back and try something else, then maybe I can get some moles removed and laser treatment for my scars when I win the lottery as they won't do it on the NHS.

I can't cover my shitty skin because my skin is too dry to handle a lot of foundation and I'm just sick of it all. I am just full of scars and patches of different coloured skin so I can never look really nice... rant over Grin

Have you looked at Retin A? It treats acne, discolouration and shallow scars as well as wrinkles from sun damage

I was on Retin A for a while and it worked well then it stopped working.

I might go back on it with a different course of antibiotics. I am not a good candidate for Roaccutane and I have to try a few course of antibiotics before my derm will even think about it. It's not so much my acne that gets me down, just the general redness, discolouration and scars. I had a massive panic attack when I first met my derm so didn't push for much or let him know how much the rest of my skin was getting me down and I'm starting to think I have some kind of eczema or other skin condition as well as acne.

I tried the bare minerals today and it looked quite nice for a while. I did a quick shift at work this morning, came home and now I'm all patchy looking and flakey, so it obviously doesn't suit me skin.

I find Estee Lauder too drying as well. I had better results with a very cheap revlon foundation which I guess I will be going back to.

Absolutely loving Naked 3. My eyes look very pretty today. I am out tonight for my son's birthday meal so will try a more glam look.
