Feet - has anyone got one of these/tried this?

My feet need some attention, I have neglected them for too long and I now have skin resembling an elephants..not a good look in sandals!

I've contemplated getting this thing before as read some quite good things, but the price has always put me off. Noticed Groupon have a deal on it at the moment at £17.99 so decided to go for it.

Just wondered if any other mumsnetters had tried it/does it do a good job?

I've got an older version of it. It's rubbish. I'm perplexed by the good reviews on Amazon!

I usually stick with Footner and I've got a cheapie version of this that I use after bath. Cost me a couple of quid from Home Bargains or somewhere similar, had it for years and works brilliantly.

I'm going to give it a go anyway as it was on offer. I wouldn't pay £40 for it though.

I don't think it does the job. But then I don't have the patience to use it 3-4 times a week! I recently tried a cheaper version of Footner (Footner is better) and used my Scholl for the first time in ages to try and get rid of some particularly stubborn hard skin on my heels. Didn't touch it. The scrubber grated it right off however

I use a pumice stone I picked up from a lakeside 20 years ago - it's still going strong.

The only thing that touches the hard skin I get on my hooves feet are those razors you can buy.

Also there's the extra thrill of not knowing whether you'll end up with perfectly smooth feet or slightly bloody stumps

I'm on the fence. It's Ok but not as good as the shaver razor thingys.
The salons here aren't allowed to use the razors anymore and I'm too scared to go it alone .

Yeah, it's essentially a pumice stone that spins at a million miles an hour. I've always found pumice stones on their own a bit shit---- and too much like manual labour.

Just don't try to use this on your elbows like I did Skin nearly rotated into next year

I like mine. It does help, but then my feet aren't bad enough to need footner.

You would be far better off investing in a Pedi Egg (about £10 from Boots)
Then use a normal double sided foot file to get them smoother.
Lastly put Flexitol Heel Magic on before you go to bed with socks on.
Your feet will be as smooth as a baby's bum.

Plus the Pedi Egg is really satisfying as you get to collect all the dry skin - honestly it looks like I have filed off a whole foot in there sometimes when I've let it lapse

It's only good for maintenance. If your feet are hard and dry you need to sort them before you use that.

For the same price, half an hour with a podiatrist will do a better job.

I have something very similar, made by a different manufacturer, but its essentially the same thing. I paid about £20 for mine. I find it ok, but you need to use it a lot to start off with so that you see maintained results. I need something I can do at home as its hard for me to get to appointments, but if I was able to, I would see a chiropodist or a podiatrist or someone like that instead and get them to sort me out.

As for the thing slowing down when it meets resistance, I've found that having completely charged up batteries stops this happening.

I use it to maintain my pedicure, where the hard skin is removed with a grater similar to creme's gadget.

After a long day, especially if feet are bare, a couple of minutes going over, then a scrub with Newtons chiropody sponge (the absolute dogs bollocks ) in the shower.
Foot cream and socks slathered on = baby soft feet in the morning.

They are shit, sorry! Had mine a year and used it approx 5 imes in all that time and its never done anything than take a teeny tiny bit of my skin off still leaving dry skin and rock hard bits underneath. as someone else said any pressure and it slows down.

ve had the soap and glory foot file for a few years now and when I remember I use it in the bath or shower after id soaked my feet, my feet always have mounds of dead skin, anything I use just isnt enough.

So I was searching for some advice this weekend and 1 site said use the foot file on dry skin, was a bit scared but it worked, I filed all the hard skin off my heels and then covered them in boots foot cream (like flexitol but boots own make), I woke up the next morning to the best feet i've ever owned so throwing away the scholl thing and just using that weekly from now on.

I had one and liked it but it broke very quickly. I got a ped egg to replace it because I didn't want to spend that much on another one if they don't last. Love the ped egg.
