dry I understand how you feel about the run. I've only done two 10ks, I had never been man aged to run 10k in training, the most I had done was 8k but somehow the adrenaline got me round. I found the second one more difficult as it was much hotter but still managed to do it. I pretty much gave up after that though Grin . However if you don't feel ready then just don't do it. Don't put yourself through it, life's too short. Blame the weather - say it's too hot, no one will think any else of you.

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2016 20:47

dry you'll be fine - 10k really isn't that far, it's a totally manageable distance for someone in reasonable shape (which you definitely are). Remember, there's no shame in the odd bit of walking here and there too!

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2016 20:48

I should add, I felt the same before my first 10k. Now I run that distance as a general training run. You CAN do this.

Stokey · 20/07/2016 20:52

Dry I hate running too. I'm not unfit, just no stamina for running. I remember the cross country at school with dread. But I'm sure there'll be people who will struggled more than you, you are fit after all. Or just make up an excuse & pull out.

I spent stupid amounts of time trawling through websites looking for bikinis Dream but in the ended ordered 3 from the Figleaves clearance, 2 Freya ones & 1 Sea Folly. I tend to buy proper cup size bikinis as otherwise accidents can happen Blush. Actually think Blingy had a moment on a water slide IIRC Grin

Drywhitethanks · 20/07/2016 21:13

Thank you x I must do it as we are running as a group. My reasonable head knows I'll just be happy to finish, not bothering with time and if I need to walk a bit then so be it huge hills where I live but occasionally I loose my reasonable head.
X

libertydoddle · 20/07/2016 21:19

dry you will be fine. I used to do 10km runs fairly often and I never, ever ran the whole way. Always had to take walking breaks. Even if you are the least fit person there and are the last one in neither of which will be the case you will still be kicking the ass of 90% of the population!! Embrace the fear, rise to the challenge, don't judge yourself and remember never to sign up for another one againGrin

QueenC1 · 20/07/2016 21:35

dry don't run too much tomorrow, just stick to what you normally do. Is it a big race? If so there will be so much cheering going on that it will carry you through and if you walk a bit, so what? I used to love the atmosphere of races especially when I did the great north run.

Longislandicetee · 20/07/2016 21:37

Happy birthday Lib!CakeChocolateWine

Dry, you will be fine hon. Adrenalin will see you through, and you can always stop for a rest. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Glad dh is on the mend Stokey. And great memory. Yes, on hols last year, I wore a triangle bikini over my 28E boobs, then went down a water slide. Flashed everyone. Okay more than a flash as it took me a bit to realise I was showing boobs to the world. muppet

Welcome back FedUp! Thanks for bringing the weather with you!Grin

Blair, I saw a woman in the lift at work today in Bermuda chinos and a t-shirt. I wanted to applaud her.

shopafrolic · 20/07/2016 21:40

Dry you are superwoman. You'll be fine. Nerves are normal, don't they say feel the fear and do it anyway? Not that I've ever run a 10k but I bet you'll come away wanting to do it all again. Big cheers from Hertfordshire. X

Great shopping Dream and Shop; I'm a big fan of the stripe - wore Gap navy/white stripe maxi skirt today.

Dry you are super fit so am sure you will manage the 10k - it's just pre match nerves. Anyway, we'll all be cheering you on from the comfort of the sofa Grin Grin

Blush Blingy

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2016 21:59

My favourite motivational quote is: however slowly you run, you're still lapping everyone on the sofa!

You will be fine (hills great for stamina, there is a shocker near me that I use for hill sprints - really helps).

I got a new bikini in Tesco the other day - whole fiver in the sale, but it fits well and feels supportive. I have £££ bikinis and can't say I notice much difference! Do like my Triangl one from last year though.

Cat is now with collar and bell after a few too many bird related infractions. He is not a fan, but I got him neon yellow to bring out his eyes!

Drywhitethanks · 20/07/2016 22:55

Love that quote Amber......thanks again all, have pulled self together and will stop being pathetic .

Happy birthday lovely Marsha Wine Cake hope you get spoilt.

Think I may copy you on the neon stripe Gap dress Shop. What's the sizing like? I'd normally get S but they only have XS left. I know Gap often come up big.

libertydoddle · 21/07/2016 08:09

Happy Birthday Marsha Wine Cake Wine

Dry you are not pathetic!! There is nothing wrong with not enjoying particular sports / activities. For example, i would rather stick pins in my eyes than do a spin class but I'll happily bike 20kms outdoors. Exercise should be fun.

Happy birthday Marsha Cake Wine Flowers

Happy birthday marsha Cake Wine Flowers hope you have a lovely day

shop I'm very tempted by that Boden bikini you ordered. Would you be able to report bs k in what it's like when you get it. Thanks Flowers

stokey glad to hear your DH is on the mend

amber good call on the stylish collar and cat bell. Dead birds and mice are one of the many reasons why I won't have a cat.

AmberNectarine · 21/07/2016 10:11

The main issue is one of the birds wasn't dead, just in shock, so I have had to nurse it over the past 24h. Seems ok now though and is back in the wild.

Dreamqueen · 21/07/2016 10:28

Bought this bargain Alexa dress from M&S this morning. Had tried it on already but couldn't refuse it at £7.99.

I know I said no shopping for a while. Obviously my shopping is the same as my diet at the moment. Blush

libertydoddle · 21/07/2016 10:35

Well done on the bird rescue Amber. Tough call on the bell, obviously not nice if birds are being attacked but I can live with the odd dead mouse on the basis of better dead in the garden than alive in the house! We don't have a cat but the neighbours cat sees our garden as her stalking ground and we find occasional dead rodents.

That dress looks great Dream, good call. I hear you on the diet, I was doing well for a while on avoiding rubbish and had lost a few pounds but have been going hard on ice cream over the last week.

AmberNectarine · 21/07/2016 11:05

Him leaving a dismembered pigeon IN MY CAR was the final straw, TBH (DS left his door open).

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/07/2016 11:12

Happy birthday Marsha! Have a fab fab day Cake Flowers Wine and a great holiday.

AmberNectarine · 21/07/2016 11:45

Thanks for that dream - had been looking at that in store at FP but didn't find my size - was able to nab a 6 online! Will be great for throwing on while we're away etc.

peachmama · 21/07/2016 11:45

Happy birthday Marsha!.

dream - what an absolute bargain!. Note to self not to look at M&S sale!.

Amber - glad you have been able to nurse back to health - bless it. We had a killer moggy called Matilda who made significant dents in our local bird/mouse population. We also went collar and bell route (she HATED them) - it did help though.

Good luck with the 10k dry - like everyone else has you will be great! - zero doubt. Just think of the ice cold reward and ginormous pat on the back at the end.

Really glad to hear DH is mending well stokey.

First girls night out on Saturday - in probably 2 years!. Really looking forward to it....I think Hmm. A cocktail bar/restaurant has opened locally so we are off to try it out.

Outfit will be black full skirt midi, grey silk cami, shoes TBC.... plus a blow dry, painted nails, some fake tan and plenty of slap!. Here's hoping all of that will hide a multitude of sins!.

If anyone notices a change - obviously don't tell anyone as I am now completely incognito and undercover and all sorts of mysterious'ness.

AmberNectarine · 21/07/2016 12:05

Outfit sounds great peach, hope you have fun! DH and I have a child free evening in the diary but with no plans beyond 'let's get drunk'. I'm sure we'll come up with something!
