Can I wear this to a smart/casual wedding?

Just got the final details for a wedding in 2 weeks time - dress code is smart casual! What the hell does that mean? I have 1 frock for weddings, work clothes that are mostly black and the rest of the time I wear jeans and trainers. I was planning on wearing the frock but now it is a bit much. My friend has lent me the blue version of this - m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gorgeous-BN-Boden-WH625-Women-s-Olivia-Dress-3-colours-UK10-12-14-RRP-99-/201592573165 which Is lovely on but I'm worried it's still a bit too formal. What do you think?

The Boden dress looks just right to me, I would definitely wear that. Dress down with flats and no hat?

I think that looks lovely.
I'd want to wear a dress to a wedding. By foregoing hat / fascinator, might that make it "casual" enough? I've not heard of 'smart casual wedding dress code' before Confused

Cotton dress and no hat seems fine for a smart casual wedding. Anything long or silk or shiny would be too much.

Don't worry about being too formal. Lots of people like to get really dressed up for weddings, and some probably will! When asked, we said something similar for ours but that was mainly because we didn't want guests to feel they had to buy new clothes, and I didn't want the women to feel they had to wear skirts/dresses if they were happier in trousers and a nice top.

It generally means that they'd prefer not jeans and t-shirt, but that they want their guests to be comfortable!

It looks great , very summery and bright and depending how you accessorise it it can be as dressy or as casual as you like.

Brilliant! Thank you all for the reassurance. Doik - thank you for explaining it too! Off to look for some strappy sandals on eBay now...
