Getting cold feet about Botox, your experiences good and bad please.

After years of dithering (and cancelling an appointment two months ago because my Dr kept sending me for blood tests) I have finally got botox booked for the week after next.

I have really bad number 11s, which is all I want doing. I have been warned that they will still be visible.

My major wobbles are 'what if I don't like the way it makes me look?' and 'what if something goes wrong / I react badly to it / she hits a nerve?'

i had my 11done and loved it. like u they were slightly visible. i could have
had fillers on top to get rid but was happy with just botox. no regrets, virtually painless. it also tightened up my forehead. mine has worn off and they are not as bad as they were. if u have researched, then u have done all you can do. maybe its just not for you? why put yourself thru this anguish? you could try stick on "frownies" from ebay. like sticking ona plaster. they worked for me but my 11s are not very deep.

I had it done secretly for quite a few years. My ex who I was with st the time started complaining that I looked smug all of the time. I also started to not feel anything but something, I can't quite describe the sensation but I didn't like it and wondered if years of having it was damaging something so I stopped.

I haven't regretted stopping. My forehead feels fine.

I love it, around my eyes and 11's it's awesome the biggest problem is it's addictive and I can't afford it ☺️

I've had it about 10 times probably over the last 10 years. I like it and think it works brilliantly on forehead lines. I personally have never had problems but obviously there are risks. I was terrified the first time I had it and felt very vain but I'm so glad I went for it. It doesn't last long so I just kept telling myself if I didn't like it my forehead would be back to normal within a few months. Lots of my friends and colleagues have had it and opinions are mixed so it's not for everybody.
I think some people like the effects so much they get addicted and get the frozen forehead look but it's too expensive for me to get addicted! I really just see it now as an extension to my beauty routine.

I read something about how botox adversely impacted on interpersonal relationships because ir reduced the ability to mirror facial expressions, and so people who had botox felt emotionally distanced from other people. I'd be interested to know if that resonates with anyone or if it's just bobbins. Haven't had botox myself but defintely thinking about it...

I've had that thing where you can't interpret facial language because of botox etc, with colleagues and aquaintances. It's disconcerting. People who have had botox do often look good/less knackered/younger, but it does look obvious.

It's also basically poison!

True it is a poison I just can't believe 40 years of learning how to interpret social situations and body language can possibly go out the window because of a frozen forehead. Personally I look at people's eyes when they speak to me and go from there

You'll actually look at all kinds of cues.

There's a difference, however, between some botox that's obvious (v smooth, shiny forehead, fewer lines than rest of face) where the person still has most of their expression, and botox plus probably other stuff where they look more frozen. I know lots of people with the former but only a few with the latter (apart from actresses of course, but they've had surgery galore! Extreme examples - nicole kidman, and Carrie fisher in recent star wars film - good actor but zero expression possible because of what's been done to her face!)

Bollocks. You still have loads of movement in your face. I deliver presentations at work most days. It's not like a total freeze-off Like you're suggesting.

I said SOME people have total freeze.

Many, many more have visibly had botox and still have much of their expression.

I love it! Look so much fresher and younger when I've had it done. I think that who does it is important- I go to a dentist who obviously has excellent knowledge of facial anatomy and she talks about how I would like it to look

Some people do have total freeze but now most people go for a much more natural look. I had mine done (8th time) on Wednesday and I'm already starting to see the effects I absolutely love it. No one would know I've had it done as I still have movement I just look fresh and like I've had lots of sleep.

The only thing I will say shout make sure you go somewhere good preferably a doctor. (If you're in the northwest I can really recommend someone)

If you're only having your 11s done the chances of anything going wrong are remote it's literally two tiny injections. I have 11s, forehead, crows feet and under eyes done.

I am going to a dental practice, they have done botox for years. I figured that the injector would have knowledge of facial anatomy and also would have had some medical training compared to a beautician.

I just want to look less grumpy, and I have realised that I frown a lot of the time (reading, driving, watching telly). But I agree with wellhellothere that it feels very vain, but then I had my wonky teeth sorted out which was also a vanity thing (that was 15 years ago, though and I'd been conscious of them all my adult life)

Buttwing I'm in the northwest and I'd be interested in your recommendation as I used to go somewhere near where I worked but I've moved jobs and it's not as convenient. I've had it twice for frown lines but needed my 11's done as well otherwise it would have made my forehead look strange when it moved. I asked for some movement to remain. I was really happy with it, I just looked better, my husband didn't even notice the first time I had it done

I'm 42 and considering t. I don't have an issue wit my forehead, or very many wrinkles, it's just a general look of tiredness that I'm really sick of. From the sound of it, Botox could just perk up my face a bit? Des anyone have any recommendations for anywhere to go in East/North Herts please?

I wouldn't go to a dentist, sorry...or one of those chain clinics where NHS doctors come and do it a bit of botox and filler for an hour after their shift to earns one dose.

This sort of work should be done by people who do it for a living - preferably a doctor, or a very experienced nurse. Are you in London? Tracy Mountford.

Many dentists offer it....I am seriously thinking of asking mine. I don't want to turn back any clocks but at 54, I think I look permanently grumpy and tired out!

OP, let us know what you decide? Are you brave enough to post a photo of JUST your "11s". I'll show you mine if...

Gladyoucame-it's Dr robin stones at court house clinic in wilmslow. He's not the cheapest I've been to but he's a dermatologist and I've have excellent results with him.
