Evening reception question

DH & I are going to an evening reception soon, we've only ever been invited to the whole day before.

Do men wear suits to the evening reception?! I've never paid attention before. Or can you get away with shirt & trousers?

Thanks....we are clueless Blush!

It will depend on the wedding, of course, but generally, I would say 'suit', as, after all, that's what the majority of the guests will already be wearing. Plus, he can then take the jacket off if he feel so moved - can't however magic one into his hands if he feels he's the only one not in a suit.
IME, it's always better to be dressed a bit smarter than you need to be, than too casual, if ever you are unsure.
However, if he feels strongly, then no-one's going to turn someone away for not wearing a jacket.
