I'm trying to help my Mum find a nice dress for my sisters wedding. She found a lovely one after searching for ages but it's sold out and isn't being restocked Sad

She's 55, a size 24, and wants a maxi dress with some sort of sleeve. Preferably to the elbow or just slightly above. Needs to tie in with the colour scheme somehow, which is blue and silver (I think any kind of blue will do as the original dress she found was navy and white).

Can anyone help? I've tried ASOS, Littlewoods and Dorothy Perkins but nothing is suitable. She usually shops at Marisota and other similar places so I thought you lot might know some shops we've not thought of Smile

Ugh typos^^ - it's too early!

Should be:

"That's a good idea"
"...probably be quicker and cheaper"

Try website Navabi

That's a very good idea actually. She was thinking of finding a pattern to make something herself but not sure if she will have time to do it. I'll suggest the sleeve thing!

The added sleeves looked quite effective as the chiffon type fabric she went with toned in really well with the main fabric of the dress. This might work with lace etc. too, if there's a good match.

Funnily enough I mentioned this website on another thread, it might help with places to try? highstreetfitfinder.com/plus-size-collections/

does it have to be a maxi dress?

why a maxi?

something more tailored would probably be more flattering

Have a look at Scarlett and Jo, I have recently ordered from there for a wedding.
She should consider Midi length as well as maxi, as depending on her height it will prob be between knee & ankle in length.

ForeverDolphinLove · 01/06/2016 12:52

Member that JD Williams one is the original dress she wanted!!!!! Thank you so much for posting that link as the site she was looking at said it was exclusive to them but obviously not. I'll send it on to her.

She needs a maxi as she broke her leg many years ago and one of her ankles swells quite badly so she wants to cover it up.

I wondered - better get a shift on as it was low stock when I posted!

Fairylea · 01/06/2016 12:55

Anything on Yours perhaps? They're not as frumpy as they used to be and now have stocks of different brands as well as their own stuff. Definitely worth a look.

mirrorballs · 01/06/2016 18:06

Yay has she managed to order the one she wanted?

CarrotVan · 01/06/2016 18:58

Would she consider this sort of service?
