These are awful, aren't they?

These:

Occasionally I get weird aberrations of judgment about shoes - which can't be excused just because they are comfortable, which I do need them to be. And I need to be told to forget it!

These have nearly sold out and are described as 'ridiculously pretty' by the makers. But I suspect they are actually frumpy/tacky. Anyone want to tell me they aren't?

Far too expensive. They're not even leather!

These are better imo

BitOutOfPractice · 30/05/2016 19:54

They look ok on the first picture, taken from above, not so much when you can see the white sole

CreviceImp · 30/05/2016 20:27

If I had the need I would get some ballerina style Crocs instead because they would be cheaper, washable and neater on the foot. It would scratch the weird show urge too which occasional comes upon me 😀

KindDogsTail · 30/05/2016 21:05

I think they are Fitflops. They have a kind of expensive status just as they are (not leather) for those who love them. They are supposed to be especially comfortable as a brand.

claptomania · 30/05/2016 22:18

Uggers. Sorry!

Kazplus2 · 30/05/2016 22:23

Not too bad in silver!

Dfg15 · 30/05/2016 23:16

I have the Fitflop canvas ballerinas and they are SO comfy. My feet feel like they're wearing clouds. The ones with flowers are a bit naff tho.

bojorojo · 30/05/2016 23:38

These look like they are shoes for a child. Utterly horrible. Leather may have elevated them to 1 star!

MizK · 30/05/2016 23:43

They are not nice and look way cheaper than they are.

member · 30/05/2016 23:52

Nice from top view, side view horrible. Imileather? Hmm, wonder if it'd be acceptable to pay with Monopoly money aka imicash?

Drogon · 31/05/2016 08:34

I was seriously questioning my fashion taste reading this thread and thought "they're quite nice, I would wear those, why do loads of posters hate them?! (I wouldn't pay that much for a pair of shoes though!)

And then I went back to look again and scroll through the pictures. And understood. The soles are awful!

KoalaDownUnder · 31/05/2016 08:37

They are 'ridiculously' something, but pretty isn't it.

pictish · 31/05/2016 08:39

Kind I have heard of Fitflops you know. I know about the brand.
They are still way overpriced for plastic shoes.

polyhymnia · 31/05/2016 10:02

Thanks for all the views - most echoing my own doubts!

I do in fact have several pairs of FFs already and they are certainly comfortable. At the moment, I'm wearing their silver 'skate' shoes a lot - am pleased with them and have had compliments, including from trendy young things. Don't begrudge the money for those at all. But they are leather, as are my other FFs, and I, like PPs, was put off by reading about the 'imileather. Why?

Have seen the FF 'ordinary' ballerinas and some look nice, but I fancied something a bit different. And, yes, it's the ironic VW aspect of these that appeals - ie, maybe the flowers are a touch naff/OTT, but that's the point.

However, maybe I'm overthinking that and inhabitants of my leafy London suburb won't be looking for the ironic angle, just think 'cheap and nasty'. And the 'fun' aspect is more like the 'fun' patterns in Boden, which I always avoid.

Might get a pair somewhere it's easy to return to, just to see for myself. Meanwhile, all further views welcome.

I find French Sole ballerinas comfortable. I think if you want that style, go for the real thing. Office ones are half the price and do just as well. At least they are leather.

If you want really comfortable but slightly more formal shoes look at Peter Kaiser shoes. Expensive - yes, but excellent shoes. Their wider fit loafers are great. They have other flat options and they are not tacky or childish. Amazon may have offers or go to their own web site for the full range.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 31/05/2016 10:37

Urgh no thanks!!

polyhymnia · 31/05/2016 11:45

bojoro, thanks, yes I do already have and like some French sole ballerinas - also have R and B 'smart'ones. And I do know about Peter Kaiser and other quality and sensible shoe brands. These were, as I said, just a (comfortable but not sensible) aberration, as you and other posters are quite rightly pointing out!

JapaneseSlipper · 31/05/2016 13:11

There is a Marc Jacobs sort of charm to the flowers - but then I saw the soles. Why white??

aprilanne · 31/05/2016 13:13

they are nice if you are under 10 but a mature adult sorry no .

polyhymnia · 31/05/2016 14:05

Yes I thought if Marc Jacobs too. But still ....

Cazz81 · 31/05/2016 14:09

I like them and fitflop are so comfortable. I'd wear them on holiday.

Mummytodaisyandbradley · 31/05/2016 14:09

I don't like them, not my taste. Even if I did I wouldn't pay £75 Shock I'm a tight arse though

SomeDaysIDontGiveAMonkeys · 31/05/2016 23:45

Perhaps ok if you're 5 years old but for a grown woman. I think they're far too fussy.
