They went bust, I think.

Do you mean shops - like Selfridges and Liberty - or more brands, like Mulberry bags and Church's shoes?

Oh sorry, I meant Aquascutum.

Do you mean shops still owned and operated by British based companies (e.g. M &S, or Sainsbury. Selfridges is owned by a Canadian multi-national I think) or who you associate most with various types of iconic British clothing regardless of their current ownership e.g. underwear from M&S, shoes from Russell and Bromley (which is still UK owned I believe), Liberty for scarves, etc....?

This is already a good start to my list! I'm not savvy enough to think about who owns the company, I was only thinking of companies that produce iconic stuff, like as you say lou, liberty prints.

Abraham Moon woollen mill in Bradford is getting on for 200 years old and make tweed and other woollen fabrics for a lot of clothing companies world wide.

Harris Tweed

WT Johnson of Huddersfield are also well known for woollen fabrics.

Johnson's and Moon are both in the area known as "Heavy Woollen".

Sorry for my previous burble about woollen cloth. I was thinking brands/manufacturers rather than shops.
