Mascara - this time it's serious

Hello

I've got an ongoing beef with several brands of mascara I once loved: Max Factor 3000 Calorie, Rimmel Extra Wow Lash to name but a couple.

Please - please can you recommend mascaras that won't

  • clump
  • make my eyes watery
  • smell weird after six weeks
  • dry out in record time

Basically looking for a decent mascara that can provide a bit of length and volume 👁

Technics in the silver tube! I just bought six of them in case they run out....

the best bit is it's £1.65!!

It's very black and not clumpy, and it's got a little spikey bit at the end of the brush which is perfect for lower lashes.

I'm fed up with expensive mascaras too - so much let down!

Oh, I do also love Maybelline's lash sensational.

Ooh, never heard of Trchnics but that's a shout...

Has anyone tried any of the Boots No 7 mascaras? Heard such mixed reports about them.

How much do you want to spend? Eyeko Black Magic mascara is brilliant.

2ManySweets · 30/05/2016 09:05

To be honest anything up to £20 is fair game (the value of a quite frankly rubbish Benefit "They're Real!" Mascara. NEVER buy it).

Eyeko is £17 from M&S. Also look at Lancome Definicils which used to be my HG mascara.
Diego Dalla Palma Ciglione and Pur Vixen mascaras are great aswell, both sold in M&S.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/05/2016 09:10

No 7 Intense Volume- I've tried them all, it's brilliant.

2ManySweets · 30/05/2016 09:19

Ooh, thanks thanks thanks! Whilst we're at it, any recommendations for a decent black liquid eyeliner in pen form not brush ?

Ps: why did I never consider m&s as a viable contender before?

I've tried so many pen liquid liners and they all dry out almost immediately. The Rimmel lasting stay liner in a pot is extremely cheap and the pot lasts literally 2 years. Eyeliner stays until you wash it off as well. It's the best thing in my makeup bag by far and it only costs a few quid. Any chance you could practise with a brush, they really are so much better?

suze28 · 30/05/2016 09:28

NYX eyeliners are supposed to be good too. Does your nearest big Boots have a NYX stand?
M&S beauty dept has lots of fabulous makeup brands and often 20% off.

Mascaras - I switch between these 2:
L'Oreal Telescopic - my fave. Has a teeny brush so great for getting all those little lash hairs. Its around £10.
No 7 Lash Impact £13 (I originally got this as a freebie from Boots but i really love it too).

CaroleService · 30/05/2016 12:33

Anyone feel able to recommend a tubing mascara? I currently use the Boots No 7 one in the gold tube - not bad at all - but I feel there is probably something better out there.

Littleallovertheshop · 30/05/2016 12:36

Eyeco is free with one of the women's magazines this month if you hurry. I think it is marie claire.

I use the gold tube no 7 and nothing else

SecretSpy · 30/05/2016 12:42

I've got a L'Oréal one in blue and silver tube (Flutter?) on the go that I'm quite liking, also bought the L'Oréal Sculpt one but the brush is a bit too poky.

Max Factor masterpiece is on oldy but a goody. I've liked the Lancome ones but found they dry up super quickly.

17 falsify HD has been getting some rave reviews lately but I've not tried it yet.

leedy · 30/05/2016 13:13

Benefit They're Real is indeed pants but I really like their Roller Lash. They also do a tinted They're Real "lash primer" which is actually a decent enough everyday brown mascara, and also seems to oomph up black mascara over it.

This is really helpful. Am going to get the latest edition of Marie Claire from the shop NOW! 👍

Get more than one, theyve eyeliner pens too!

spankhurst · 30/05/2016 14:33

I use the gold No7 one too, after a lifetime of grey smudges under my eyes. It's fab.

MadSprocker · 30/05/2016 14:56

Not Marie Claire, they have Elemis day or night cream, think it's Instyle with the Eyeko freebies.

dragonsarebest · 30/05/2016 15:08

Instyle this month has choice of two eyeko eyeliners and a mascara, there's something else too, maybe eyebrow gel? The skinny eyeliner is good.

Littleallovertheshop · 30/05/2016 15:28

Aaah sorry Instyle - I read neither :)

purpleporpoise · 30/05/2016 15:37

Estée Lauder double wear zero smudge is the only one that doesn't end up on my cheeks!
