Toms

Are they comfy?
Are they worth £35?
Does the little folded bit at the end get on your nerves or irritate your toes?

Should I seek some out (I'm not bothered by whats fashionable , too past it) . I have some new straight leg slim jeans and I want something (not a sandle or a ballet pump) to potter round in. These seem to come quite high up on the upper but I have very narrow feet.
I'm usually in my Converse. Not sure if I could do bare feet (recipe for rank sweaty feet)

They are very comfy IME (unless they have changed in the last few years). If you're worried about sweaty feet you could get some of those little elasticity socks which you can't see under shoes (I can't remember the name of them but I've just bought some to wear with trainers and I'm a bit of a convert).

AppleMagic · 30/05/2016 00:58

These type of socks.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 30/05/2016 03:00

I've just bought a pair after wanting some for years and I love then. I've got wide feet but they're very comfortable and the two but doesn't bother me at all.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 30/05/2016 03:00

...toe bit...

icklekid · 30/05/2016 03:43

Mine are very comfy too- just don't wear them in the rain! (Sad voice of experience talking!)

Trumpton · 30/05/2016 06:02

Mine are on their second summer. I love them and find them very comfortable.
I wore them in China last year and they coped with monsoon rains and recovered. Just come back from a week away and wore them every day doing some quite long walks over rocky ground. They are going in the washing machine today !
The only downside is the strange tan line they have given me due to the high front.

Scoopmuckdizzy · 30/05/2016 06:44

I have 2 pairs. I practically lived in them last summer and the summer before. I plan to get some more soon but the ones from 2 summers ago are still going strong. They're alright in the rain but if I knew it was raining before I went out I wouldn't choose to wear them.

Buttwing · 30/05/2016 07:30

Sorry I'm sure they are comfy but so are crocs and imo they are in a similar style bracket. Hideous.

SouthDownsSunshine · 30/05/2016 07:47

I love them, I have two pairs and my eyes on a third! I don't think they're ugly, I'd wear flat canvas shoes in summer anyway - toms are the comfiest I've found.

seven201 · 30/05/2016 09:03

I disagree that they're on the same level of crocs!

I have wide feet and they're very comfy. I'm not sure what they'd be like if you had slim feet. I wear mine with little socks.

AuntieStella · 30/05/2016 09:05

They are comfy.

But I like only the lace/crochet ones. Enough to have 3 pairs in different colours. The oldest paid is still going strong (3 years).

I think the solid fabric ones (especially the felted ones) look too heavy.

MadSprocker · 30/05/2016 11:49

I have very narrow feet, and have just bought my first pair and love them. I am interested in the fit of the sandals, as they are supposed to be narrow too.

RideTheLightning · 30/05/2016 12:27

I have wide feet. Love my Toms, been wearing them for years. Very comfy. Used to love converse until I had children and my feet grew - now they are so uncomfortable.

neverAdullmoment79 · 30/05/2016 12:57

I like the crochet ones. Do the backs of them stay up? Are they fairly rigid. That's the only thing that would bother me - the back falling down.
Sizing - are they true? If you have wide feet, do you go up a size. Sorry to hijack!!! Blush

Fairylea · 30/05/2016 12:59

I remember a thread on here about Toms two years ago and everyone except me thought they were hideous :) how times change!

I love Toms. So comfortable and cool in summer and I think they look just as stylish as any other plimsol / trainer type thing.

AuntieStella · 30/05/2016 13:00

I find them true to size.

The lace ones stay up at the back, and are generally a little narrower than the crochet ones (which are softer and can be folded up or down at the back).

neverAdullmoment79 · 30/05/2016 13:06

I actually think that some of them look like slippers. I think you need to be careful which ones you choose!

DameXanaduBramble · 30/05/2016 13:09

They look, vastly overpriced for £35. I've just bought some espadrilles, v comfy, I don't like the shape of toms.

MadSprocker · 30/05/2016 13:50

Check sizing, as it's USA sizing. Their 7 equals size 5 here. I have them as an alternative to trainers/ Converse.

dragonsarebest · 30/05/2016 15:14

Yes they are a lighter/minimal alternative to trainers. The plain ones are just like plimsoles really, not sure how they could be described as hideous! I'm not a fan of the crochet/patterned ones but to each their own etc.

cressetmama · 30/05/2016 15:57

Paez are like Toms, but I bought mine overseas and have not yet seen them in the UK. Similar, but nicer colours and patterns IMO.

ElodieS · 30/05/2016 16:03

LOVE Toms! I have narrow feet and high arches and find they fit well. I've had two pairs and both have lasted well and been through the wash a few times. IMO they are much more stylish than crocs etc but I don't have particularly high standards... I also find they go well with shorts, jeans, even some skirts and dresses. I do think they're a bit steep for what they are but they seem to last linger than other similar canvas type shoes.

HemanOrSheRa · 30/05/2016 19:17

I love my Toms. They are so light and comfortable. The black ones look a bit like KungFu shoes though so don't get those!

MiniCooperLover · 30/05/2016 20:28

I have these Toms and love them. Very comfy and have a little sparkle to them.
