The nicest I've seen for a while are these by Me and Em. They're long, the ruching is very flattering and the white is a proper white not cream or beige.

Joules Harbour tops are good if you want a thick cotton type Breton - can usually get them cheaper on eBay or via country type outdoor shops online

I like the me & em tops - £££ but they wash well and stay new looking. Good as a soft Breton layer with decent long sleeves (if you are tall!)

White stuff do some different colour combos

Imo boden Bretons are now v thin fabric so only worth it if Johnnie has graced you with a £10 gift voucher and 20% off!

Uniqlo did an amazing Breton last year.

missmartha01 · 29/05/2016 08:41

I bought one from Joules last week and it's lovely. Nice thick cotton and decent sizing.

Muji has some lovely very sturdy ones, including ones with stripes in a very pretty shade of blue. Slightly shorter in the body than I needed though - I was gutted.

Seasalt have t shirts in lots of colours. They are lovely organic cotton, soft and wash well.

Ponymagic · 29/05/2016 13:43

Thanks - shall have a look at all of those!

Boden

Ponymagic · 29/05/2016 14:06

Problem is my wardrobe is coming down with Boden and there aren't really any new styles or colours. Ordered a top from Joules a wile back and it was shapeless on me. Returned a Jigsaw top simply cos I thought it was over priced at £39. Will have a good look later when I have more time.

I love the Boden long line ones but yes, they are very thin, but I dislike the Joules ones because they're too thick for me.

LittleMissWagtail · 30/05/2016 08:13

Careful with the Me & Em ones. Very short in the body for me - though I am 5'9"!

MadSprocker · 30/05/2016 11:56

I would send SeaSalt Bretons. Lovely and soft, and very flattering.

MadisonMontgomery · 30/05/2016 12:29

The Boden long-line Bretons are good for summer - they are very thin tshirt material. I have just bought a St James Breton top, it looks fab and is more like a thin jumper, they are meant to be more traditional type Bretons.

BlueLeafTea · 30/05/2016 15:20

I have a really nice thick organic cotton one from h and m. Not sure if they still sell them though

Tartyflette · 30/05/2016 15:28

I second the seasalt ones, good quality and not too bad for price if you wait for a special offer. (I got a decent discount offer via their emails)

LazySusan11 · 30/05/2016 15:50

Is it better to have a skinny stripe Breton if you don't want to look panoramic in it?

Dozer · 30/05/2016 15:55

£48 is overpriced IMO!

This is lovely, very forgiving, but size down!

fiorentina · 03/06/2016 21:24

I have several from Cos. Wash well and are good quality.

Mrs9C · 03/06/2016 21:42

Joules Harbour tops, I've got a couple of them, and live in them as much as I can. Good and thick quality cotton, flattering fit, not tight, not too loose.

Jubaloo442 · 03/06/2016 21:50

Stylist magazine's fb page had a link to good Breton tops. Today perhaps?

Ponymagic · 03/06/2016 21:53

Oh must google that - thank you. Still haven't ordered anything (need a whole new summer wardrobe) but have Me & Em website open as there's one I like there.
