Would you want to know?

Yesterday morning I was out and about. In Sainsbury's, to be precise. And there was a woman about my age - early 30s - wearing black leggings with a T shirt. But the leggings were entirely see through. You could see the flower pattern on her white knickers.

Part of me thought "I should tell her - what if she doesn't know?" But then I thought telling her would embarrass her, and that would be awful.

So, S&B gurus - would you want to know if you were inadvertently flashing your pants to the entire supermarket? I know I would, and would appreciate being told, but I could be in the minority...

Skirt tucked into knickers? Yes.

Leggings a bit see-through? No.

Unless it's something that she couldn't possibly be choosing to do, I'd keep schtum.

Wouldn't it be obvious at the front that they were see through?

Five I truly believe that some people have no way of checking their whole reflection - no full-length mirror. She will have checked her hair in the little mirror & left the house.

In the height of summer a few years ago, I got off the tube and walked up the stairs behind the most beautiful girl wearing a gorgeous, floaty white dress.

With a massive skid mark up the back.

No, I wouldn't give someone the heads up on their wardrobe malfunctions unless it was something like skirt-in-knickers.

A while ago there was a young woman in a queue, she had a bra (visible and completely different colour to her top) low cut top, and a wrap cardi.
Her cleavage was practically escaping and she must've been well aware (the draught from the aircon would've been right on her) but she was bending up and down, picking things up , her clothes were slipping.
Everyone in the queue and the till staff were WTF look.

Would it have helped her to say Put yer tits away love ^You might want to just hoist a bit" ?
Probably not.

Urgh tethers that is a dilemma : tell her/don't tell her. She must've burned that dress when she got home...................

I walked about with huge patches on my TShirt when DD was a baby so though I was I reckoned I could brazen it out

PestilentialCat - having seen myself in a full length mirror wearing leggings, you could well be right - it was not a pretty sight

I've seen lots of women with transparent leggings. I just assumed it was intentional ! I know nothing about fashion

Personally? Yes I would want to know. This particular thing won't happen to me but if you ever see me unbuttoned, unzipped, stained, mistucked or with something in my teeth please tell me!

I wouldn't for that. I would think it's her own fault for wearing leggings like trousers. I hate seeing anyone wear leggings with short tops, it's not what they are designed for and doesn't look nice. Skirt tucked in etc, yes.

Be Yourself - I wouldn't wear leggings like trousers either, and think it looks ridiculous on most people over about 12.
I can't help thinking that some of those who do so honestly don't know how they look when outside, in full light, rather than in front of a small mirror. Which is why I wondered if I should've told her!

Also wondering if it's a size thing. People wanting to buy a certain size in leggings and not realising that when they stretch, they go see through?
I went up a size in mat leggings when pregnant, to prevent exactly that, but I know lots of people are reluctant to buy bigger sizes than normal. And think that, if something goes on, then it fits.

I dont even like it on children . I make sure DD has long tops.

I get your point about not realising. The light in my bedroom is shocking so I'd never know. I also wouldn't wear white pants under dark leggings.

An obvious malfunction that can be fixed immediately e.g. skirt in knickers, yes. Anything else, no. It's not worth the risk of humiliating someone - they're only clothes.

No. Only someone close to her could say it. Not a stranger.

Oh my word. No you can't say anything but I would be mortified if I had visible sanitary items!
