Are all Essie nail varnishes streaky?

I bought one at the weekend, it's a pale/ nude pink which is lovely but goes on REALLY streaky.

Shame as it's super hard wearing, stayed on for the last 4 days with no chips but if they're all this streaky I won't buy another.

What are other people's experiences?

Nope.

They're my favourite brand. I have about 20 of their polishes and maybe two have crappy formulas.

I think it's more common for pale colours to be streaky. I don't wear them so have no experience.

Which one is it? I love 'no prenup' as a pale neutral, but it does need a base coat and 2 coats. Don't have that problem with darker colours.

It's called Tying the Knotie.

I'll try it with a base coat, I usually just use a top coat.

I have two Essie colours, one dark and one pale, and they both go on streaky. Everyone raves about them (which was why I gave them a second chance) but I can't seem to get on with them.

LillyVonSchtupp · 26/05/2016 14:26

How many coats did you do?

Found a review online that said that shade requires 3 for full opacity?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/05/2016 14:31

2 coats plus top coat.

Mrs- interesting, I can't believe how shit it is tbh. SUCH a shame as it's long lasting.

Essie are my favourite too. Haven't had any problems with them - though I tend to get any darker colours - eg greys, which I love - done by professionals and only put on pale neutrals myself, which I've found pretty foolproof.

I wear Mademoiselle for everyday, and find that it needs two coats to avoid streakiness.

justabigdisco · 26/05/2016 14:46

Essie is my favourite brand too and I never have problems with streakiness. I did notice when getting a gel manicure recently that the pale pink I was having seemed streaky while she was doing it - I asked and the technician confirmed that pale colours in general are more streaky. I always apply two coats of any colour - maybe you need 3 with pale ones?

I get mine from Poundland. No streaks or anything.

mrsvilliers · 26/05/2016 20:47

I don't think I'd mind so much if I got them from Poundland Ilive!

I use three coats to get full coverage but as each coat takes so long to dry it's all a bit of a faff. Going to remember this thread next time I'm nail varnish shopping!

I had another go with a base coat, made no difference. I might see if there's any in our Pounds and but I won't waste any more money.
