Where did you buy your glasses?

Just wondering where you all bought your glasses if your a spec wearer? I've had an eye test and need new glasses and have prescription in hand.
So many options highstreet/online/Costco/supermarket- where is the best place to get value for money?
I ideally want 2 pairs but nothing set my world on fire at spec savers where I had my test.

I really rate Costco too, the prices are really good and so is the quality and customer service. I've tried on most of their frames, however, and didn't see any I liked as they are more generic rather than on trend. In the end I bought frames from elsewhere and got them made up at Costco.

I get mine from my local independent. They know me quite well at this stage and always let me take home a selection of frames to try, which is really helpful.

Bought my glasses from Asda, worn daily for over 2 years and frames still fine (some light scratching). Asda include the anti-reflection coating rather than it being an extra cost and i hate lenses without it. I think they were only about £50-60 at time, i'm not bothered about branding tbh.

I used to buy from an independent opticians but it would cost something £200 per pair, but as i always want a change after 2 years there's not much benefit to the frames lasting longer. I simply couldn't afford to pay their prices now.

Jules you put me to shame! I found a website called pretavoir and drooled over Chanel Frames I can't afford!

I don't like Specsavers and switched to Vision Express after years.

My current glasses are Tiffany (from Vision Express) think they cost about £300 but I have to wear them every day and I love them.

Glasses Direct every time for me - so much cheaper than the shops, you can have 4 pairs at a time to try out at home, and their service is fantastic. I'll never buy from an optician again.

Independent. Mine has the best choice of frames around and the best service, including after sales. They go the extra mile for you.
I get that it's different if you don't wear your specs all the time but when you do, they're probably the first thing people notice about you. I'd rather skimp on other things.

I got my frames at TKMaxx and had the lenses put in at John Lewis. I'm sure if I'd shopped around I could've got the lenses cheaper (I paid £85) but I picked up some Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs frames for £25 each so still think it's a good bargain overall!

Freia TK Maxx is one hell of a tip! Just ordered three pairs all under £30 each and lenses for my fairly simple prescription are about £37 from glasses direct

I have bought my glasses from Ollie Quinn. They have several stores in London and a great range of glasses online. They cost £98 including prescription lenses which is a pretty good deal seeing they are such high quality and lovely designs.

I got mine from Asda. A pair of varifocals with lightweight coated lenses and a pair of varifocal sunnies. They were £40 per pair.

No problems with them, had them coming up to two years. Will definitely go back again.

I can't believe I paid £300+ for specs for so many years. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The High Street Opticians are a rip off.

I've used Specsavers the las few times. Always been great. I work for Boots now though so my discount will make it cheaper to get my next pair there.

We use on line for frames and get the prescription at a local optician. The online companies are pretty reasonable and DDs have Chloe and Celine, I have Dior and DH has Persol and Rayban prescription sunglasses.

Independent as I wanted the light Chanel frames they had in stock - I also have varifocal Zeiss lenses which cost a lot! Recently I bought some prescription Oakleys and got them glazed with single vision transition lenses: spex4less they seem very thorough and definately cost less than the High Street. I’ll stay with my optician though for any more varifocals

I'm another one who uses Specsavers, though I haven't bought frames from them for a while. The last 2 pairs I have had I bought the frames elsewhere and got Specsavers to do the lenses. They always explain it's done at your own risk, but both times it was thankfully fine.

I actually went to Costco first with my latest frames, which are Ray Bans. I got these from a website called Pret a Voir, which is worth looking at as they were considerably cheaper than anywhere else. However Costco said they couldn't add lenses to these frames due to the plastic the Ray Bans are made from.

I agree, although to be fair I do have a slightly complicated prescription, and v strong astigmatism, and now need varifocals. Worn specs since i was 3.

Bought cheap ones once and never again. No way would i buy online. My lenses really restrict the types of frames i can have and i need an expert to tell me what will and won't work.

Actually had a sight test yesterday and got a quote for GBP 950 for glasses and sunnies. And that was with a discount. Fabulous frames though

DH uses Costco and he's quite happy with them.

I buy mine from Hong Kong or Taiwan retailers as my nose bridge is tiny. Smartbuyglasses is the best. It lets you buy from any of their country websites and then delivers within 3-4 weeks. I spent 140£ on my Roberto Cavelli frame (including the thinnest lenses) but you can get cheaper frames.

I bought mine from independent shop. They are a French brand called Face a Face. Look at another French brand called Francis Klein - I am in love with Francis Klein but the ones I have tried are too big for my face ☹️

Got these from specsavers hugo boss on the 2 for 1 deal paid £180 that was with ultra clear. Nice box comes with it and a boss glass cleaning cloth. got my from my local specsavers in Liverpool

Specsavers, so much better than the independent optician I tried who wouldn't let me buy new glasses there and then as I had to make an appointment if I wanted to try on glasses!
