17yr old dd2 needs summer clothes. Previously we've done ok with an 8-10 in sainsburys 25% off. This time just 1 dress fitted - argh!

She is almost Marylin Monroe curvy. Tiny waist ( and definite hips/bum) - so jeggings work but jeans don't. Her school " suit" for 6th form is a ladies size 10 jacket and an age 14-15 stretch skater skirt !

She'd like shorts and dresses I guess. She is not tall. Reliably fitting vest tops would be good but I guess that's very hot and miss.

Where should I try to avoid the " I'm a terrible shape, it's horrible " comments. She's a bloody gorgeous shape but the clothes aren't !

Maybe something here?:

High waist shorts and jeans are probably a better fit than those designed to sit on the hips:

Maybe something like a playsuit would be a good fit:

These style of shorts would work as they are loose round the bottom but with an elastic waist.

This style of dress - jersey so a bit of stretch and skater style bottom

I think I'll dive into H&m today and grab a load of stuff. It can go back if it's no good. We can have a fun afternoon trying on if I can get her to take a revision break.

I do an online order from h and m for ds1 and then he has a try on and we just send back what doesn't fit/he doesn't like.
I'm VERY lady though and clothes shops scare me 😁

Badders123 · 21/05/2016 11:25

Lady!?
Ha!
Sadly not.

I find being able to take in clothes at the waist with darts is an absolute godsend - buy the size that fits hips and bust and take in the waist for a nice hourglass fit. Can you teach her, or take her to someone who can? Could be a real investment for the future.

Bravissimo clothes fit perfectly if you're a real 'in/out' curvy girl but they might be too old for her.

That said the classic cotton shirts and vest tops with built in bra are bloody marvellous for any age.

Oly5 · 21/05/2016 21:59

Fat Face? Quite pricey but the best tops are fab

Oly5 · 21/05/2016 22:00

Vest tops not best !

Littlelondoner · 21/05/2016 22:18

I am a very curvy size 6/8 with a tiny waist but very curvy bum and hips with thick legs. Small sizes are always designed asif you have skinny legs so I struggle.

I find gaps curvy line or levis curvy line a god send. You basicly pick your waist size and then your curve level out of a choice of 3 gap do trousers and jeans levis just jeans but best fit I have found.
