What to wear to Wimbledon?

My DP has got us tickets for Wimbledon - the full works. Very excited. We will be in the VIP lounge bit/Gatsby club and need to look smart! I'm not really sure what to wear, I'm thinking a nice dress? Any suggestions for what would be suitable most welcome, I'm usually in denim skirts and Birkenstocks so guidance much appreciated. I have a fear of posh places so desperately want to look like I belong (hahah!). - I am about 5ft, size 14 with a "postnatal shape"...baby is 18 months old...

Any thoughts on my DP's outfit also much appreciated. He thought he was wearing a tshirt and shorts til I had to point out the smart casual dress code!

I've only done Wimbledon the shorts tshirt way lol but you're bio so I would do a summery dress. Smart casual means you can do nice sandal flats for comfort. Think garden party or weddingy minus the hat maybe?
I went to Henley in the posh bit. Their dress code was so strict it was sad it. Really pretentious imo.

If not sure if smart jeans are allowed then chinos or suit trousers and a shirt for DP?

ess code in The Wimbledon Experience is informal. The dress code in The Gatsby Club is smart/casual. No jeans, no tennis shoes, no sandals, no shorts, no caps and no flip flops please.

Pumps are probably safer if you find them comfy and don't want any heel

Google images shows men in suits or chinos and Blazers mainly for the gatsby. Women are a mix of dresses and trousers so could be more relaxed than wedding attire if that makes sense.

I missed the bit about sandals. I hope it's not scorching not as I am on good in heat! Where does nice chinos for men? He dresses like a teenager in the 90s so this is a challenge!

Do you think something full skirted and floral would be OK. I always get it wrong at weddings.

Are pumps like ballet shoes? Great present but this bit is stressing me out!

Most high street shops do a form of chinos, even tesco. Look at next, river island etc

I wouldn't wear anything too layered in the skirt dept for heat reasons and seating if you have court tickets. You can always add tights of it's cold on the day but you can't de skirt lol

What shape dresses do you like?

And do you have a budget?

You can get men's chinos anywhere from Primark upwards. He'll be fine with them, an open necked shirt and sports jacket.

For you, look at what Kate M, Kim S, etc wear - summer dress, low heeled or flat shoes, great blow dry and you'll look perfect

Will check out River Island. Budget is generous for both of us, I was wondering about Gant for DP as there's one here and looks preppy from the outside. Will look at their website.

14 isn't larger but I have s monsoon habit and love phase 8 but tbh you could get something from h&m for £30 that would look just as suitable x

apparently ballet pumps fall off, this is why everyone who wears them walks funny. (I have been wondering)

I'm big of nork and buy formal dresses from Jaegar and Hobbs as they don't skimp on sizing

Ballet pumps attack my toes so I wouldn't know but I think a fancy flat sandal is fine. Nothing beachy or for sightseeing in Naples.

I've done the posh seats, full debenture dining thing at Wimbledon several times.
I've always just worn a pretty dress and flats. DH wears chino style trousers and a shirt or polo shirt.
There are a lots of stairs and its a big site. You can be sitting in full sun at times or in the shade can get chilly so a layer is a good idea.
Drink lots of water. Use the loos attached to the dining area - they are nicer than the other loos. If you go by train it's about a 20 minute walk to the stadium and it's a nice walk - way better than waiting for taxis.
