I'm having a 'I hate the way I look' phase-weight, hair, feet, wardrobe etc etc. I wish I had a beautician and hairdresser on call but having mumsnet is a close second! What shall info with my hair next hairdressers trip? I go regularly for a cut and t zone colour. I was trying to go for the long blunt look but it just looks style less. It's thick and I straighten it after washing otherwise it looks like a nest. Suggestions please X

Chocolate and longer ...

Or maybe I have a kate Middleton crush Blush

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/05/2016 19:22

Darker and blunter.

littlem133 · 17/05/2016 19:26

I am trying to grow it long. My hairdresser calls it mermaid hair!! What do you mean blunt?

Have it cut shorter, blunt cut and touselled - less of the blonde too.

whatiswrongwithyou · 17/05/2016 19:27

All one length - no layers.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/05/2016 19:28

The ends look a little.. straggly? Sorry you did askBlush

littlem133 · 17/05/2016 19:44

I certainly did and the truth is more helpful than a polite lie!!

All one length and the darker colour at the ends/underneath put all over.

kiki22 · 17/05/2016 19:52

Ask for this..... So versatile a cut straigh or wavy easy to do a nice kink too

Also look into some really good product it makes a huge difference

gingerbreadmanm · 17/05/2016 19:55

Going against the grain here but i'd go lighter. Maybe two different beige blonde tones. A really bleach blonde one and a darker blonde.

Then i would get layers and have it chopped into a little. Stop getting it shaped around the front.

If you need a little bit of something go for what i call 'wings' which kinda looks like a grown out fringe with a centre parting.

DurhamDurham · 17/05/2016 20:00

You have nice hair you just need the ends off Smile

littlem133 · 17/05/2016 20:05

What sort of product?

I like the style in that picture. I'm never confident I can replicate it though

Any pictures gingerbreadman? I'm rubbish with hair descriptions!!

PollyPerky · 17/05/2016 20:07

I'd say get 6 inches chopped off so the longest layers are the same length as the blonder bits. Your skin tone looks too light to go darker, but the blonde looks decidedly 'bleached' so I'd say go for a golden blonde with caramel type low and highlights.

kiki22 · 17/05/2016 20:12

A style like that is really easy to maintain a blow dry and straighten easy, for nights out you can curl with ghds or a wand in about 15 mins.

Big fat curling wand and salt spray and it will look more or less beach waves / mermaidy Grin

Youvegottobekidding · 17/05/2016 21:36

Maybe this, colouring looks nice, a subtle change, enough to notice but not too drastic?

I'd keep the colour or a big brighter get an ash toner to take out some yellow and get a blunt shoulder length Bob pretty much all one length. It would look very on trend and easy to manage. It would suit you. The layers are what's dating it at the moment.

PersonalSpace · 17/05/2016 21:51

Just read the full three- Kiki is spot on with that photo!
