I like it. What shoes are you thinking?

Could be smart or casual.

Just sandals - deffo casual. Fingers crossed that it is nice irl! I have a gorgeous Warehouse one from a couple of summer sago, but have put weight on and it doesn't fit across the norks anymore. :(

I like it too: lovely print and nice shape. I would buy a couple of spares if I were you.

I like it, but I think maybe it could look frumpy on someone my age (mid-40s, size 10)

Report
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/05/2016 16:20

I'm sick to the back teeth of the word 'frumpy' on here, tbh. 'Frumpy' is a mindset, not an individual dress. Not directed at you personally, Narp, just a general grrrr.

I think it's wearable at any age. I'm older than that and the only problem I'd have with it myself would be the lack of sleeves.

Report
Savagebeauty · 15/05/2016 16:24

Ooh I like that. And it's cotton.
I'm six feet tall and 56. I'd wear that.

Sorry Blush

it's more about me that you (Obviously I have no idea how old you are or what you look like). I have noticed that although I am fairly slim and small, just in the last couple of years something that looks cute and maybe a bit quirky on a younger woman, will look kind of "frumpy' and old-fashioned on an older and bigger-boobed me. I have to go for something bit more classic.

Report
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/05/2016 16:31

If I try classic, I look and feel as if I'm wearing somebody else's clothes. I'm 46 but am told I look younger (maybe from a distance!), and still dress quite 'young', I guess. I'm definitely going to go and try it on.

I think the neckline is too high, but I love the rest of it.

NarpIsNotACunt · 15/05/2016 16:33

Yes, try it. It is a lovely print and I would definitely be drawn to it in a shop

I do get where Narp's coming from. It's very disconcerting when your body starts to change and none of your favourite clothes look right any more. But there's no single style that suits everyone over 45 - it's still about body shape, personality, lifestyle etc.

Let us know how it looks!

Seems to meet your criteria (save for the 2% elastane Wink), the neckline is the only bit I'm not sure about. Fingers crossed!

Cotton with a tiny bit of elastine is the best fabric ever! :)

Really? I'm a bit Confused at that as it doesn't look summery at all to me, and I find the print rather frumpy. I'd feel 10 years older wearing that dress and wouldn't even contemplate something like that on a warm summer day.
I don't mean to offend though and maybe it works for you! But I wouldn't class anything black as 'summer'.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/05/2016 16:52

I like black!

I like black too, it just doesn't scream summer to me Wink

I've seen that dress. Looks nicer in the pic than reality.
The huge pinny pockets ruin it imo..

Oh that's a shame, Penguin. :( Yes - the pockets did worry me.

Well said Remus On some threads it seems that every other poster uses the "F" word. I like that dress and would wear it. That style suits me.

I bought this in Sainsburys the other day. On the hanger it doesn't jump out, but once on it looked fab (OH and DD agreed anyway)

Nice dress, Nick. I don't 'do' blue much and definitely want cooton, but it does seem that Sainsbo's are doing some decent clothes lately. I tried a gorgeous (cotton, black!) Tu dress on in a charity shop yesterday, but unfortunately it was a tiny bit too small.

I have that dress!
I wore it to work last week and it didn't look frumpy!
I had a denim jacket from River Island, a chunky silver bangle, some high heel sandals and my hair half up half down with some curls, big sunnies and a slouchy leather bag. I've just had a summer make over from Mac.
I'm 50 and I didn't feel, what's the other word on here that's an insult? mumsy!

Sounds fab, WhathaveIlost.

cotton, not cooton - trying (and failing) to multi-task.
