Which straighteners

I'm aware this has probably be done to death but.... my husband keeps asking me what I would like for my birthday. The only thing I can think of is that my current straighteners are very very old! I have an original set of GHD wide plates from circa 2006 Blush but they still work. I know they will have their day soon and I'm not convinced they are that efficient and effective these days anyway.

I have very thick mid length hair, thus prefer the wide plate. It is also super frizzy. What would you recommend? Stick with GHD or defect to Cloud 9 or another?

Having been woo'd in Selfridges with the Jose Eber vibrating irons www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/jose-eber-vibrating-flat-iron_994-10064-WDV1153/ I will be ditching my ancient GHD's too as they are very drying!

I replaced my old GHDs with some Babyliss ones which have variable temperature and got as hot as the GHDs. I ended up then sending my old GHDs to be repaired for £20 and have gone back to using those.

The new GHDs aren't supposed to be as good as the old ones.

I've heard the cloud nines are the new GHD's according to my hairdresser and teenage DD. They are on her birthday list!!

My old ghds conked out and I replaced them with new ones. Big mistake, nowhere near as good. Stick with your old ones!

Hi Swinging yes the lady at Selfridges tested them on me, they vibrate and somehow kept the moisture in and my not washed hair looked clean, super straight and glossy after as well as feeling soft and silky! I was pretty impressed compared to my aged GHD's which are pretty drying. I didn't buy on the day but looked online and found them cheaper then realised they could be fakes!

thankful yes I've heard GHDs aren't what they were and cloud 9s are superior.

Any ideas as to which model would be best? I've got on really well with the GHD wide plates as my hair is super thick.

The new GHD definitely aren't as good. I'm very disappointed. 10 years ago they were amazing!

I have said amazing straighteners and they still work, but I know they are going to go someday soon. Just want the latest equivalent!

I have Cloud Nines and they are really good. I have the Touch but I have fine hair so you might need something a bit more heavy duty.
