Ok so I am about 3 stone over weight (size 16/18) and I have a wedding next month and a christening in August (completely different people so one dress is ok). I need a lovely maxi dress but cannot find one anywhere that doesn't make me look pregnant (if anyone asks me when I'm due I'm going to cry)!!

I tried the Gwenda Lace Dress from Phase Eight and it looked shocking Sad

No budget as such as long as it looks nice!!

Thanks! I'm

Hi
Did you try any of the other phase eight dresses on?

YorkieDorkie · 09/05/2016 15:26

Monsoons are really well structured.

Does it have to be a maxi dress?

I'm a 16 and hourglass. I recently bought this one:

It doesn't look like it does on the model. But I really like it.

If you have time I can recommend a visit to a personal shopper at a big department store. When I've needed an occasion dress in the past they've suggested things that I wouldn't have tried on without their suggestion or that looked awful on the hanger but brilliant on.

I was also going to suggest monsoon. Boden have a lovely one similar to a version I got about four years ago and still get complimented on.

This is nice

Hi, so sorry I didn't get back on here earlier.

It doesn't have to be a maxi dress I just thought that would be my best bet, I never wear dresses I'm a real jeans and converse person so that with being overweight is turning this dress hunt into a real nightmare!!

I love that Phase Eight dress and would never in a million years think of trying it on, maybe I need to go into shops and try stuff instead of ordering online. Love the idea of a personal shopper but I'm a bit embarrassed Blush

I bought a couple this morning from Debenhams but I just don't love them and they aren't at all flattering.

The link to the Monsoon one isn't working!

Thanks for trying I do think I need to go shopping!

I know what you mean about finding a personal shopper difficult and embarrassing, I would hate it!!
What I have done in the past is order loads from house of Fraser and debenhams and tried them on at home.
What colours and styles etc do you like ?
