Shoes to wear in New York in June

We're going to New York at the beginning of June and plan on seeing ALL the sights which will involve lots of walking! I'm planning on wearing my well worn converse and jeans but one friend said she thought that would be far too hot and another said they'd be far too casual!

So now I'm panicking a bit. Can't wear sandals like Birkenstocks for full days of walking which are the only alternatives I can think of.

Help!!

And some of the sketchers are washable!

Just dress for comfort - it's one of the scruffiest cities I've ever been to. (Still fab though!)

I would go with capri's or Gap khaki's and trainers.

In fact now I think about it I look lie a Gap ad whenever i sightsee in the US.

And last time i was in NY I wore Haviana's the entire time.

I bought some sketchers go walk for our holiday to California last year, they did rub on the top of my foot the first time I wore them but after stretching them slightly they became the most comfortable shoe ever. They did stink after a couple of weeks but I just stick them in the washing machine when they get too smelly!

The ones I have are more of a trainer type- they come with white laces also so can choose/alternate!

I shall be wearing with shorts I expect (with feet-slip sock things!) but go fine with skinny jeans or cropped too.

The most comfortable, supportive, casual shoes or sandals you can find and a second pair of something with memory foam for when your feet are tired and need something to rub on a different nit.

NY in June tends to be on the hot and muggy side for enormous amounts of walking, tbh - though public transport is cheap and plentiful - but when I've been there in the summers before, I've worn baggy harems and a loose top and a scarf with a cardigan in my bag for the glacial air-con so many indoor places have on. I usually wear Birkenstocks, but agree that your feet after a day spent walking around outdoors do get considerably dirtier than in, say, London.

Skechers - Go Walk. I know some don't like them but they're the most comfortable shoes ever.

We went in July a few years ago and I stupidly wore flip flop type sandals with a thin flat sole- my feet were so wrecked and dry that I had a deep crack on the sole of one foot that kept bleeding! So yeah, the comfier the better. Toms or keds or superga maybe or suchlike? Perhaps with a scholl cushioned insole for extra foot comfort!!
