Help! Outfit for 14 yo at Ascot

My 14 year old DD is being taken to the Royal Enclosure in Ascot by her Grandma as a special treat but finding a suitable dress for her is proving impossible - please help us if you can!

DD is tall - about 5ft 7 - and a women's size 10 to 12.

She needs something knee-length but all the dresses that she likes (skater-style/lace/pretty/'young') seem to be too short, whereas dresses that would be knee-length on her all seem too 'old' e.g. more likely to be the kind of thing I would buy for myself.

Budget was supposed to be £50, although I was hoping to get her a jacket for that as well. Her birthday is coming up, however, so I can spend a bit more for something really lovely.

Really grateful for all and any help!
Thank you.

Have you looked at chi chi, they have quite a few that would be suitab;e I think.

UntilTheCowsComeHome - that's lovely! Exactly that style is perfect, although I know my DD will want a brighter colour...

MrsLettuce - haven't heard of Chi Chi - I'll google now.

She'd love the green, but straps have to be an inch thick (sorry, should have put that in OP)

liberty - no worries! You mentioned a jacket, if she wore one to go in and out they won't notice if she doesn't have it on in the enclosure itself. Have you thought about hats? She will need a a full hat or "substantial fascinator" for the RE.

GinIsIn · 04/05/2016 20:11

If you search asos for 'midi skater dress', there are lots of really nice ones that could work and would leave budget for a hat or jacket?

MrsLettuce · 04/05/2016 20:42

this is really lovely but it's over budget

jimmybim · 04/05/2016 20:50

blue dress

AgathaMystery · 04/05/2016 21:41

She can wear any size fascinator as she is under 17. We took our niece last year into the RE & they were fine about it. They def don't expect children to wear hats. There is a children's dress code.

Have you looked at Monsoon?

MrsLettuce · 04/05/2016 21:57

From what I could see the only difference in the dress code for girls under 17 is the headwear thing, ladies dress code for the rest. Here.

Libertymae · 05/05/2016 08:31

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. Had a good look last night - found one I loved on Monsoon, but my DD didn't like the beading :(

At the moment the only one we can agree on is
