Questions about La Roche Posay Effaclar H moisturiser

I have the multi-compensating soothing moisturiser. I have very acneic skin, with very easily blocked pores, so when I used this, overnight I got loads of whiteheads on my chin. I later realised it's got Shea butter in, which isn't good for acne (which I didn't realise at the time I bought it). So I stopped using it.

Buuut I have been using it on my hands, just to use it up rather than waste it and have just noticed it's really healed up a scab/scar I had on my hand, so it might it actually be good on my face? Would it be one of those things that purges a bit but then settles down? Or should I stay clear?

Any advice welcome.

I don't think purging is ever a good sign really. It's your skins way of saying it's not happy. Put it on your neck instead.

Have you tried effaclar duo?

I love la Roche posay! I did go through a period of purging for about 4 weeks. I know the received wisdom is that purging doesn't really exist, but I can only go on my experience which was that after 4 weeks my skin has been the best it has ever been. I have even had compliments on it!

My routine is the effaclar duo morning and night, then the soothing moisturiser as well at night. For a lighter alternative to the moisturiser, I also like the effaclar Matt moisturiser for daytime. I use a separate (more expensive) eye cream because I feel I need a bit more moisturiser around the eyes.

It's good for acne prone skin.
