2x summer wedding outfit quandary (please help!)

Ok you lovely lot, here's a challenge for you. I'm extremely over weight - looking at size 22-24 (and will therefore struggle like a pig on stilts in heels) and I have lypodema so can't wear a short dress at all, but maxi dresses don't really work on me either as I'm short and dumpy. What would you put me in?!! I need two outfits as I have 2 posh summer weddings with the same people attending. I'm looking at a budget of around £200 for the two outfits including shoes.

Head over to Studio 8 and see if you like anything. Get shoes/bag that you can wear with both outfits. Spend some of your budget on good smoothing undies (M&S have a good range) that will help things sit better.

PS Same size, size issues.

Complete agree with pp - how about the following:

Hmmm. It's ok... Looks a little bit casual but could dress it up maybe.

How about a jumpsuit?

Flumplet · 30/04/2016 21:22

Quite like that idea!!

I agree with tethers, something like this? www.studio-eight.com/fcp/product/studio8claudia-jumpsuit/230138351

MrsLettuce · 30/04/2016 22:21

Those are both very nice jumpsuits. Was coming to suggest similar.

Flumplet · 30/04/2016 22:38

I prefer the style of the black one. Is it ok to wear black to a summer wedding?

MrsLettuce · 30/04/2016 22:47

all Black isn't really ok but Sheba's one is navy which is fine. Something like this print would be fine.

Might you consider trousers?

burnishedsilver · 30/04/2016 22:53

There are some lovely palazzo pants around at the moment.

hellsbells99 · 30/04/2016 23:06

Hi Op. I am on the short and dumpy side too. I tried on several 'weddding' outfits yesterday and found jumpsuits made me look like Andy Pandy!

Hi everyone

I have similar issues size 22.
Varicose veins so dresses aren't great option, tho can do maxis.
Added embarrassing problem of excessive sweating so a lot of fabrics and colours are off limits add to that since going into menopause I seem to sweat excessively In Groin area which makes me look like I have wet myself. BlushBlushI have three weddings over the summer all of which are very stylish affairs. Confused

Flumplet · 01/05/2016 07:39

I guess I will have to go and try stuff on and get an idea of whether it works for me. Thanks for the advice!

Maverick, there's a company called Hot Squash that makes Summer clothes in a fabric they call Cool fresh. It's supposed to keep you cool. I haven't tried it myself so I've no idea if it actually works but it might be worth a look. I've seen them in house of fraser and debenhams.
Heres one maxi but there are a number of colours snd styles.

jimmybim · 01/05/2016 08:08

this is pretty

travailtotravel · 01/05/2016 20:05

Great tip on the Hot Squash - thanks

ScarlettDarling · 01/05/2016 22:27

I think this is lovely.

ScarlettDarling · 01/05/2016 22:28

And this one is a bargain!

ScarlettDarling · 01/05/2016 22:31

I think this floral dress is beautiful.

Maverick66 · 01/05/2016 22:32

Thank you burnished silver really like that maxi

Flumplet · 02/05/2016 07:28

Lovely dresses but I have lypodema which means my legs are unusually large and not really get-outable unfortunately. Really lovely dresses though!
