Drop earring query

I'm quite embarrassed about this because I'm going to look foolish but I got my ears pierced before Christmas, first time.. Anyway, i got my first drop earrings recently and was unaware that they would come without back fasteners. Firstly, that is how they should be I take it? And do they stay in firmly without them?

Are they the kind with a long u shaped bit so the top of the u is in your ear? If so, yes they'll be fine. If they look like normal earrings with posts though just stick a pair ono from another set

tobee · 30/04/2016 17:43

Thanks. Yes they have the long u. Honestly, I'm nearly 50. What an idiot.

Sometimes they have a small plastic 'tube' over the wire. I always put these on the back now as I've lost a couple of earrings while gardening or once I think one got caught on a scarf as I was taking it off. They're fine normally, I'm just careless!

You can buy extra plastic back fasteners/ tubes from Clare's.

Thank you!

I use these ^ as earrings always seem to fall out of my ears without them!

CrazyDuchess · 01/05/2016 15:00

Just bought - I am yet to lose a drop earring but live in fear

faustina · 01/05/2016 17:14

Those backs always seem to fall out for me, and I've lost so many earrings. I find hug hoops or twirl earrings stay put the best

HappinessLivesHere · 01/05/2016 19:57

The ones I posted are great and quite a snug fit, I've never had one fall off. Highly recommend them and only £2.20 inc delivery :-)

Oldraver · 02/05/2016 00:04

Yes I always wear them with the little plastic tube they come with on the packaging.

I've also got some earrings recently from M+S (Sainsburys did them as well) that have the hinged fastener you usually find on more expensive jewelry in the olden days

This is the kind of fitting and they stay on well

tobee · 02/05/2016 12:04

Thanks. I took a risk and wore my drop earrings last night with no backing but will buy those plastic things!

I use the Amazon plastic things too
They're perfect
