Bra help please?

A couple of years ago I realised with help from here that I wasn't a 36c at all and bought some cleo juna 32dd bras which have been fab and so comfortable. My boobs seem to have got a bit bigger lately or maybe I've put on weight but I was getting a bit of a 4 boob thing happening. So I bought a 32e but same problem, cup still not big enough. So I bought a 32f which fits perfectly round the actual breast and keeps everything in nicely but the sides under my arm pits are higher, because of the larger cup I guess, and I can only wear it for an hour or two and get red sore chafing marks under the arm pit. So disappointed, do I need to move from the old faithful Juna? And if so, what to? I can't afford to buy any more that aren't right

Have you remeasured to see if you need a different band size as well as cup size?

Yes I'm just over 32 inches and to be honest I dont think I could wear a bigger band anymore, I think it would feel too loose now

I thought maybe you needed a smaller band size rather than bigger. I'm not sure about styles though so you need one of the bra guru people

This happened to me when I crossed the threshold to F cup. The designs seem to be slightly different even on the same model of bra - taller wires which dig in and wider straps that rub.

All you can do is try on loads of bras until you find one that will do the job. I exhausted all options (and the poor staff! ) in Bravissimo but eventually found one on Brastop that is ok. It's a Lepel one.

Yes maybe it's as simple as that then. It's just frustrating because I could easily buy a bra thinking it would be OK and I'd only realise after an hour wearing it that it would be uncomfortable. Hopefully if I lose a bit of weight again I'll be ok in the smaller cup again and that would be OK

try some Freya or Curvy Kate bras. They have shallower wires that don't go up as high.

Ok thanks I'll try those. I've just tried them on again and compared them to the old 32e bras. The difference with the f cups is that cup goes further back into my armpit and irritates the skin there, whereas the e cups don't go as far back. So it's not actually that the wires go higher in the f cup, it's just that they go further back, which makes sense I guess, a larger breast is wider so the cup is wider. Would this be the same with all bras, and the ones you suggested, Freya and curvy Kate?

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm sure I'm wearing the wrong bra size too!
I was measured at Debenhams and they advised a size 34A But I've never really found a comfortable fitting bra in that size. They feel too big under my boobs and rise up at the front when I move around which is pretty embarrasing and very uncomfortable, and my whole boob desn't fit into the cup properly.
I tried a 32C at M&S today and the band felt comfortable but I had lots of 'back fat' under my arms. Which doesn't seem right as I'm quite petite, should I go back up a band size or cup size.

What dress size are you? I am an 18/20 (sometimes 22) and wear a 36 back bra.

Definitely not curvy Kate, I found the wires on those went even higher and further round - I have the same problem with higher wires. The best I found is Andorra plunge which is a panache bra. Not sure if they are the right size but worst checking?

Thanks squid, I'll have a look at that one, although I've not been sold on plunge bras in the past, I suit a balconette better as boobs a bit empty at the top now.

Does anyone else have any recommendations for balconette bras which aren't too wide set at a 32e or f ? Thank you

I know an f sounds big but I'm not really and I guess that's why I'm having this problem. My boobs are all at the front so the cup and wires going too far back is just digging into arm pits. Slightly confused a to why I'm on an f cup with these small boobs but I can fill the 32 f juna, just uncomfortably

It sounds like when you've grown in size it's made your breasts deeper but not wider - the Juna is a relatively wide and shallow bra (for Cleo) and I have the same issue with it. I think you probably need something with narrower wires and more projection.

Cleo do the Marcie and also a range of balconettes which come in various names but are all basically the same cut - look for pics of the Cleo Minnie, Millie, Mollie or Lily and then any other Cleo bra which is the same shape!

Have you tried Freya? I have just got the Deco in black and nude. I don't normally go for plunge but for me this is the perfect bra. I've gone up a cup but it has totally eliminated underarm fat.

No I haven't tried a Freya bra. Where is a good place to try all these on? Would bravissimo stock all the cleo ones and also Freya? I've never been in a bravissimo but there is one locally

Yes Bravissimo stocks both, and they can also recommend other styles if you tell them what you're looking for

My junas are much the same. I get on with a panache idina and a bravissimo satine.

Sadly, probably not much help for 32 band width in structured bras as ours tend to start at 34 BUT it's worth noting that all Avon bras come with a 28 day full return no quibble guarantee so find a local Avon rep and she(/he) should gladly order you a few different sizes to try out and wear for a few days/weeks to make sure you do get one that's comfortable to wear. Whichever you don't want can be returned for a full refund or exchange. Actually I wish I'd known that when I was pregnant; would have saved a fortune!
