Sally Hansen Gel Nail Polish

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Sally Hansen Gel Nail polish and what they think of it? I had gel nails done recently in a salon and was really disappointed with them. The first one came off completely after 3 days and a second one after a week when they were supposed to last for at least two weeks.

I bought this in Boots, in a set of nail polish in red and top coat. It was easy enough to do, two coats of polish and then a coat of top coat. I painted my toes. Looks glossy and shiny and apparently comes off with normal nail polish remover. Even better it was on offer in Boots.

Does it last for two weeks and is there any colours people could recommend or tips for use? Thanks.

I don't think it lasts for anything like two weeks but it definitely lasts longer than any other polish I've tried. I like "Commander in Chic"

Sounds like you had a bad gel polish experience. Did you go back and ask them to fix it when you lost the first nail?
Find another salon that does it better. But make sure you follow aftercare too.

I tried it at home and thought it was crap. Used it twice, and at least two nails chipped within a day each time.

I tried it for the first time last week and was pretty pleased - no chipping (on fingers) for nearly a week, and they were lovely and shiny. Colour was Red Eye, which is a lovely true red. Can't imagine you'd get two weeks out of them unless you literally never used your fingers for anything, mind.

Also yes, you definitely had a bad gel experience. I usually get gel on my toes for holidays and it lasts for a month or so - I remove it when it starts to look odd because my toenails have grown/feeling like it's possibly not good for my nails to leave it on for longer, rather than because it's chipped.

I've just bought some too and I got four days with no chips, which I'm happy with. Didn't really expect it to last two weeks. I think it's a good compromise though, I love gel nails but I grudge paying £25 for them, which is the average cost around here.

Is this the Miracle Gel stuff that cures in daylight or does it need a lamp?

Yes, it's the Miracle Gel one, no lamp required. It's definitely not as durable as "real" gel, but it's good.
