Basically Dh and I are trying to re-connect following his cancer diagnosis last year, then treatment etc. We remained close during this tough time but weren't intimate in the fullest sense, we'd now like to get things back on track now that my husband is feeling more like his old self again. My in laws are having the children for a weekend so we can have some decent time together as it will be our 4th wedding anniversary and tbh last year I didn't think we'd make it. We can't afford a hotel or anything like that so we've said we'd like to have some nice baths and 'normal' couple time together. I'd like to buy a bath oil that smells lovely but not enormously relaxing, and also a candle for our bedroom, and something nice to massage with? We're both the type to get a bit shy around each other when it's been a while, if that makes sense but I always found we chatted and opened up a lot more whilst in the bath!

I figured a few nice touches that way would make it more special (we haven't had days to ourselves since we've been parents -10 years!) I can't afford too much but if anyone had any ideas that would be most helpful. Flowers

Aww you know what you sound like a couple who just need to be together rather than spending money on bath products and candles. I always like badedas. It makes the bathroom smell lovely. Have a lovely time.

Some hot stones for your massage. These ones are fab and can just be relaxing rather than sensual. Your just warn them in hot water www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=28692

Also, they're on the any 3 items for £10 deal so yo can get your massage oil too. Packaging is discreet.

What a lovely idea, maybe look into massage candles. You burn them, the room smells lovely and then wait for it you pour it out and use it as a warm massage oil. This is one but there are cheaper ones out there I'm sure. For non relaxing bath oils look for citrus (the Weleda Refreshing Bath Milk is v. nice and affordable but not technically an oil), pine, or rosemary and avoid lavender and other floral scents.

Jo Malone does lovely bath oils and candles. Quite pricy, but they are lovely!

Second on the Jo Malone, it is long lasting too.

I'm not sure what your budget it, but I got an insy winsy sample of Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath Oil recently, and my god, it's the closest thing to heaven I've ever sniffed.

Hope you enjoy your weekend, sounds like you both deserve it.
