Have been using box dyes forever minus the odd trip to hairdressers.

After reading a thread on here a few weeks ago I thought I'd give it a try (am medium dark brown all over so it couldn't go completely wrong).

I love it - so easy to use - no dripping and no dark splashes when rinsing it out. Excellent coverage too on my increasing number of persistent greys.

Highly recommended if you have an all over colour Grin

(I used 5.1 which replaced my nice n easy 5c).

What is this magic of which you speak!?

I'm medium/dark brown and use nice and easy to give me a richer colour and cover those bastarding greys that have made a recent appearance.

Where can I purchase said product?

You can buy online at hairdresser suppliers - also Amazon sell it.

You also need a 6% 20 volume creme peroxide.

I've been looking at this as I also use box colours but I'm so unsure of the peroxide amounts Confused
Has anyone used the blonde?

HeyMacWey · 19/04/2016 14:57

It's a ratio of 1:1.5 dye to peroxide. The tubes have paper instructions in them so you can't really go wrong.

I bought a little measuring jug and tint bowl and brush.

It says it'll lift up to three shades.

From the research I've done dark blonde is more like a light brown.

There are lots of colour charts online and threads on here (although they're more about Brown rather than blonde)

The tubes hold 50ml so you'd need 75ml peroxide if you were doing a whole head.

Half a tube would do my roots.

derek in future if I wanted to go a shade later (say 5.1) would the dye lift the already dyed hair or would I need to strip it all out?

Hair has mainly been dyed at this only then run through for last 10 mins for quick refresh.

Red you say! I always fancied going for a bold colour. Would love to be blonde, but my dark eyes and eyebrows might give me an Alistair Darling look.

Thanks - do I do the bleach bath on wet hair?

sleepy I too have dark eyes and brows (am an olive) and can't imagine being a blonde as much as I'd like to be one.

Am also tempted with red as not working for the foreseeable future so no need to conform Grin

Love your red derek
What is your natural colour? How often do you have to re-do it?

Wow! That's an awesome mane! I had to actually Google 'ash hair colour'

MissBeaHaving · 19/04/2016 15:43

Thanks for the info ESD!
I'm using 10.1 of a schwartzcopf(splConfused) at the mo,recently the roots won't lift fully which I've never had an issue with before so definitely needing a change.
